If it fails...expect the backlash to be massive. As it is, the colleges that more or less helped SJW Leftism become as bad as it is today are declining in enrollments and applications because of the debt bubble.
Unless you're going into specific fields like STEM, Medicine, Education, or Business, a college degree is seen as largely worthless and not worth the financial burden by an increasingly large number of people. Coincidentally, STEM is one of the least indoctrinated of the fields no matter how much the SJW's and their neoliberal backers try to change that.
Postmodernism does not mix well with hard science and mathematics, so there's a lot less that can be done to use those majors for indoctrination. Education is pozzed as fuck, but Medicine and STEM cannot be by the very nature of their disciplines.
The younger Zoomers and Alpha Gen see what student debt did to the Millennials and the older Zoomers and how college campuses are a hotbed of radical leftism. A lot of them are saying "Fuck that shit" and either entering the workforce, learning a trade, or going into one of the few non-pozzed college majors (like STEM)
Like you said, culture and subcultures cannot form if ideas cannot effectively spread and reach the wider public.
Academia is one of the biggest venues for the leftist indoctrination out there, if not the biggest.
Once the college debt bubble finally goes burst, Academia will be defanged for a generation or two at least.
Combine that with these riots potentially creating a silent majority to the point of even waking up the Karens, and we're going to see a backlash and a bulwark against SJWism in the event of the insurrection failing. If the protestors start openly attacking major government institutions like the White House, Capitol, or Smithsonian, it's game over. If they start swarming into the suburbs en masse, it's game over too.
The corporate bigwigs want to keep the Antifa and BLM rioters confined in the urban areas for this exact reason, because once they start crossing that line, the coup will have fully gotten out of control.
The Gen X and Early Millennial Karens begrudgingly throwing their lot in with the "based" Late Zoomer/Gen Alpha kids and the elderly remnants of the Boomers seems a tad ridiculous, but we're way past Clown World and are playing 4D CarnEvil at this point.

If Trump wins a second term despite all the shit that's been pulled, that will be a huge kick in the balls for the powers that be. This coup is their grand finale, what they have been planning for or having as their last backup in case they couldn't fully take over fast enough.
Combine that with all the SJW frog boiling that's been going on since Occupy got co-opted back in 2011-2012, and people are fed up. They believe the movement has enough weight to fully take over, and if the coup succeeds, they'll be right.
They don't want Trump to win, since a symbolic defeat would hurt their pride too much after the money they've dumped into this, and the COVID-19 pandemic threw a monkey wrench into the problem and compounded the tension thanks to the economy tanking.
They're acting out in corporate-backed open rebellion now, and that genie can't be put back in its bottle. If they fail, then a symbolic defeat might become a literal defeat if Trump somehow wins and enough of the silent majority speak up at the ballot box while they still can
