While slavery was abolished in the North, there were places that also turned around and made laws forbidding blacks to live there. You also had a lot of sundown laws (where blacks could come into the town for business, but had to be gone by sundown). Even if a black slave managed to get to the North, it wasn't always smooth sailing. Some states still allowed blacks to be sent back to their masters, so there were basically bounty hunters and some people would turn you in if they knew there was a reward for you. Even some blacks would turn on other blacks for the money. So, there was a real distrust of everyone and it took a while to feel safe because you didn't know who might sell you out for some cash.

But that wasn't the only problem. Blacks came in and would work for lower wages. This made the poor whites really resent the blacks because they were losing jobs to them. Even Frederick Douglas talked about that in his autobiography. And it wasn't as if prestigious occupations were suddenly open to blacks simply because they made it north of the mason-dixon line. That took much longer to achieve.

The South was definitely more overtly racist and slavery was a horrific thing. But if you read accounts from black authors of their experiences in the free states, it wasn't perfect. We like to rewrite history to make it seem like a good vs evil thing, but as always, it is much more complex and generally it is a lesser of two evils option.
Honestly, Oregon aside form Portland probably avoided a lot of anguish due to simply not allowing blacks to live there for a time.

Occam's razor would suggest at most, the cop and Floyd had bad blood between them and he took the opportunity to abuse him.
That's not how occam's razor works. Most likely the cop didn't even recognize him. I guess that makes him more racist for not being able to tell them apart?

That wouldn't be the craziest thing to ever happen. The father of Omar Mateen, the Pulse Nightclub shooter, was an FBI informant for over a decade.

Pulse nightclub gunman Omar Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, was an FBI informant for more than a decade before the 2016 mass shooting and is facing a criminal investigation in connection with money transfers to Turkey and Afghanistan, it was disclosed Monday during the trial of Mateen’s widow.

FBI Special Agent Juvenal Martin also testified that he considered developing Omar Mateen as an informant after closing an investigation into comments Mateen made at work in 2013 about belonging to terrorist organizations.

Defense lawyers for Noor Salman argued the case against her should be thrown out or declared a mistrial, but U.S. District Judge Paul Byron rejected that request.

The Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, who is possibly one of the most progressive mayors in the US, angered the crowd when he declined to defund the Minneapolis Police Department.
This only proves that there is no reasoning with these people at all.
Edit: Searching for "Jacob Frey" or "mayor" ITT doesn't show any video like this.

It is funny to see this but I do give him credit for flatly telling them no instead of hemming and hawing

They're trying to organize an e-lynch mob against this girl. Apparently saying blacks aren't oppressed and don't deserve special privilege makes her a demonic threat.

The Democrats (and Republicans) are unusually long lived for US political parties, the original Federalist and Anti-Federalist parties didn't live much longer than the founding fathers. When one of them collapses, the other will splinter.

Edit- To clarify, One party is not going to collapse and the other take a supermajority, one will collapse and the other will shatter as the more extreme/moderate elements struggle for control of the now-unopposed party.

Republicans have been bleeding out to the Libertarians for a while.

I think the cop killed Floyd because Floyd would have told the officers that took his statement that the cop that roughed him up has a history with him. The two worked at the same bar / nightclub, so they could have had problems with one-another, and the cop used his position to fuck with Floyd; but realized Floyd would get him fired, or at least bring question into him arresting people for personal reasons and figured it'd be easier to just kill him.

The part about a hit being ordered on Floyd is pretty dubious to say the least. Out of all the ways to kill a guy, why "put your knee on the back of his neck" to death?

Correct, which is why I said a foundation is there but refrained from saying it’s completely true. I suspect it’s some coincidence and if anything, the precinct being burned due to Frey ordering the police to flee is the most suspicious part since there was likely all sorts of interesting evidence held there, not only related to this case but others like the Chinese billionaire that was mentioned earlier.

If the cop wanted to murder Floyd, there are far easier and less public ways to do it. Like in the jailhouse. Or on the way to the precinct office. No need for all this ringamarole of trying to choke him out publically and looking guilty as fuck doing it.

This shit is why I left the creative world. It's a crime how many competent artists are shut out of the professions they were born to master simply because they won't parrot the party line. And think about it - how do you practice the life of emotional honesty that good art requires when you can't even be truthful about how you feel? All you have left are a bunch of mediocre social climbing parasites, 'artists' without fundamental integrity.

Your independent thought has been noted and ze proper authorities have been notified.

If you can't delete your social media for business reasons or whatever, don't do anything except academic/business stuff and talking to family on fb. Seems obvious but decent people are still learning the hard way.
