Ironically Trump has 100% normalized identity politics through his behavior. During the Trump presidency, the media tested him and he lost. 2017, he had the opportunity to pass real laws and he passed a standard GOPe tax policy. 2018, media attacks him, migrant caravan "seperating kids at border" emotional manipulation, Brett Kavanaugh smear, Covington catholic kids smear. 2019, the squad appears to attack Trump and push the overton window further left, and trump disavowed the "send her back" chant about 1 year ago. This BLM situation in 2020 is building off the failures of the Trump adminsitration. Trump lost control of the narrative, has no ability to get his message to the normies. In fact Trump has no message and Trump is trying to run Jeb's 2016 campaign in 2020.
With this said, I voted for Trump in 2016 and I would still vote for him. He accelerated the collapse. He forced Democrats to go further left. I agree with the Wiemar comparison. USA is Wiemar tier right now: massive social unrest but decent economy to keep the society working. I think the 2020s will likely look very similar to the 1920s.
