Now watch how the government of Minneapolis dismantles their police department, crime goes up and businesses leave by the numbers to a community that is safer for both the businesses and their costumers, and the media blames white flight; while blacks/minorities are the most affected by the poverty and lack of opportunities in their city.

Pretty much. This stunt is going to cost them very dearly in the near future.

Here's my guess, though: since they said in the article that they want to spread the functions of the police across other emergency services, they'll probably have people like the firemen (against their own will) being trained/assigned to perform high-risk police duties such as answering active shooter situations and whatnot. Whoever they pick will be police in all but name, because someone has to stop the coked-up 300-pound man with the pistol and the murderous intent, and it'll be a huge shitshow.

Granted, this article is from 2017. It makes me wonder if the majority of blacks really are okay with abolishing law enforcement. First that, then what? Where will they go from there? I'm not comfortable with this turn of events.

If you want to start a private security company, Minneapolis looks to be the place right now. Lots of out-of-work cops to hire and soon-to-be-rising crime rates should make for plenty of business by the people who remain.

You know, this seems like a strangely small government Republican solution to the problem. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised since the Democrats are the party of rich white people now, but getting rid of the police means you don't need to pay out pensions and other benefits (like the huge salaries they make in some PDs) and can sell off a bunch of police hardware and property to private companies (security, private prisons, etc.) who then can hire all the police just fired, pay them way less, and save the city a ton of money by offering a contract for policing and police protection at a much lower rate than paying for the police department would be.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Democrats start getting huge donations from private security/prisons since intentionally or not, what they are doing is privatizing the police and prisons in the name of social justice. Not that they'll be getting much social justice since these agencies will be just as trigger happy (if not more) and use plenty of excessive force and they're much, much harder to successfully sue than a Democrat city.

I have been trying to explain to certain people I know IRL that being anti-fascist and the group AntiFa are different things and you can be against fascism without supporting that specific group, but I'm struggling to get anywhere.

I imagine the Firefighter's union and EMS will throw a fit because the normal attitude for them seems to be "we try to keep our selves seperate from the police so every one in public trusts us" EMS and Firefighters only care about drugs and other shit so they can help you to the fullest extent possible not to throw you in jail.

What about the police union in all this? lol I bet they can't even BE fired. Public sector unions are insanely powerful, and an all-out police strike would probably lead to the deaths of most of those city councilors.

Police union might throw a fit but because its a "Department shut down" there may not be anything outside of lawsuits that may or may not win they could do.

Two things:

1 - Does anyone feel really annoyed whenever they use the term "ally"? This isn't supposed to be a battle. You have supporters, you have friends, you have colleagues. Call them "comrades" for all I'm bothered. But don't pretend that "ally" means anything other than "unconditional, uncritical supporter".

2 - I don't even care about who donates to BLM. What I want to know is what is BLM doing with all that money? Because government programs at least are (theoretically) required to have some transparency on where their funds and resources go. BLM now has a budget of millions and millions of dollars thanks to this rash of donations so I'd love to see it actually being used to improve black neighborhoods. Keep those kids in school, make the schools safer, get them better teachers, do some anti-gang violence campaigns... the possibilities are endless. But if it all gets written down as "helping black people" without anything specific, it gets real easy to assume it's all going to paying off politicians or doing other shady shit.
