The showrunner threw him under the bus on social media, and linked his tweets to this current "larger problem" in America. Which is a bit odd, considering that the vast majority of these jokes have nothing to do with ethnicity. And the one that do are mild at worst.

Who's old enough to remember when the exact same crowd was demanding that Disney rehire James Gunn after tweets of a similar age at the time (that were far worse than this) and celebrated when they did? It was Hollywood that not only gave him back GOTG3, but also a big budget Suicide Squad film.
Not to say that they shouldn't of, but this is hypocrisy at its finest.

For the record I am not exactly a weapons expert, just a bit of an afficionado, so excuse my terminology. But, no it looked more like a monster which I'm gonna try to explain now.
So first picture an AK. Just stereotypical AK with even that big safety they got. Then imagine they just cut the stock and changed it for one of those thin stocks. I don't remember if I even checked if it was an overfolder or an underfolder or one of those mg things that slide that the LMGs use but one of those stocks that are just thin tubes that can be shortened.
Then imagine someone stuck a piccotiny rail right on top of the body and another under the wood chunk, then stuck a vertical foregrip on the thing. Then that bubba bastard changed the mag for one of those big box mags (that's why I said belt fed) hanging from the side and changed the gear for a full auto only open bolt. Yes. Really.
Finally imagine this poor, tortured gun that once proudly defended the motherland, how do I explain it. You know how AKs after the body have the wood chunk, then the 2 tubes chunk with the cannon and the gas tube, and finally the part where it's just the cannon. Well imagine someone took a chainsaw to the 2 parts past rhe wood, having the upper tube end nearly immediately after the wood and then the cannon end right after into a muzzle thing that I don't know if it was a break or a flaah hider or whatever but it sure as shit looked bubba.
Now. I don't know if this gun was a butchered AK or just a gun made to look like an AK or whatever, I just sas it firing and being shown as part of a cursed gun images compilation video. Hell I don't even know if it was actually texas made or imported from Kyberpass pakistan. But the shooter sure as shit looked like a redneck. But the image sure as shit got seared into my memory as I spent more time that I'm willing to admit analyzing it because it was fascinating. It's like someone grabbed that "I'm a libertarian, so technically, fuck the feds." Meme and decided to give it life. That guy must've had the best machinegun/AOW licence ever because I'm fairly sure if california saw that thing it'd get a collective seizure. It was as glorious as it was horrifying. It was, in one word, AMERICA!
