It's funny how time changes you. When I was a kid in the more rural parts of the woods there was that old school, kinda separatist type of guy that would live in ID and sub to all those old Paladin Press books that were always 'illegal' which made everyone at school wanna read them. We'd had a few odd dads in the school that were said in whispers to be kinda 'extremist' after Waco, and we used to laugh at how dumb the ideology was with the Nazi folks, but damn it all if they didn't have the coolest looking stuff. They sure know how to tie a movement together, they got good graphic design, cohesive language, a unifying force, a lot of things that people want in order to be a part of something. I always thought it was a way for people who otherwise had nothing to be proud of to focus on something absolutely out of their control so they could build a fantasy of actual superiority.
That fashwave brings back that similar idea. I've listened to it sometimes, and it reminds me of those kids I grew up with who had nothing at all and really nothing to look forward to, but they had this bluster about whites being superior. Maybe there're some with their act together out there, the last time I visited my old hood they had all turned to gangs and a couple were in juvie for stealing bikes and cars....and they were 12 at the oldest IIRC. It made sense why we left. I wish there was some ethnic identity and support structure those people could turn to that would have their back. It may have naughty roots but every other ethnicity gets their own booster club to help them out, why can't they have theirs? It can't be privilege, those guys were so poor they wore the same T-shirt every day of school.
