"Antifa just means anti fascist! It's in the title!"
"Defund the Police doesn't mean you LITERALLY defund the police! You just restructure it! Just because something has a title, doesn't mean the title literally describes it! God!"

Yeah, I heard an interview on NPR last afternoon with the chief of the Camden Police Dept, which was supposedly disbanded. He ... became the chief of the new one.

Interesting article on opinion poll response to the riots

https://archive.vn/0Q1G8

The results of a poll conducted May 29 and May 30 by YouGov and Yahoo News do suggest, though, that police-reform advocates can win huge victories quickly if they choose the right battles.

Eighty-nine percent of respondents believe that Floyd’s killer should be charged with at least third-degree murder. “Going forward, Americans largely favor a set of reforms to reduce deadly-force encounters with police,” the poll found. “Sixty-seven percent support banning neck restraints; 80 percent support an early-warning system to identify problematic officers; 87 percent support outfitting all cops with body cameras; and 88 percent training officers to de-escalate conflicts and avoid using force.”

That’s extraordinary––super majorities in favor of broad reforms specifically targeted to reduce unjust killings. Where do Americans disagree? As of May 30, “wide majorities of Republicans (73 percent) and whites (57 percent) see the unrest in Minneapolis as ‘mostly violent riots.’ Only a third of Democrats (33 percent) and black Americans (32 percent) describe the events that way.”

Emily Ekins’s polling work with the Cato Institute in 2017 underscored that Americans with sharply differing attitudes toward police and policing can still agree by overwhelming majorities on specific reform measures.

“Although whites (57 percent), blacks (36 percent), and Hispanics (49 percent) disagree about whether police are held accountable for misconduct in practice, strong majorities of all three groups support reforms intended to enhance accountability,” she wrote.

“For instance, 79 percent of Americans support having outside law enforcement agencies investigate police misconduct, rather than leave it to the department to handle in-house (21 percent).”

Read: Who will hold the police accountable?

Prudent leaders will focus the country not on polarizing puzzles such as the nature of white supremacy or the right degree of trust in police, but on practical reforms that will save innocent lives.

This doesn’t mean that every substantive change on the activist wish list is on the table.

“Asked whether they would back cuts in funding for police departments, 65 percent of Americans said no,” the YouGov survey found. “Just 16 percent said yes—a number that held steady across party lines, with Democrats at 16 percent, Republicans at 15 percent and independents at 17 percent.” The proposal failed to achieve majority black support, with 33 percent in favor.

Defunding the police is very unpopular. I think the Democrats will come unstuck if they stay in their echo chamber of John Oliver and Twitter. Someone pointed out earlier that 23% of Americans have a Twitter account but that 80% of the tweets come from only 10% of the users. So Twitter is basically 2% of the population. Most people are going to look at an echo chamber like that and decide it's not worth engaging with.

And the election 2020 polling is dubious too. In the UK there's something called the Shy Tory effect where people polled give the answer they think is socially acceptable to a poll but then vote the way they really believe in the privacy of the ballot box. With a POTUS as demonized as Trump I think you'd see a 'Shy Republican' effect that is even greater.

steven is insufferable and IMHO and closet homosexual but recently he has said this

Steven switched from being Canadian to American for money, he'll switch from lolbertarian to something more authoritative too.

Also libertarianism is the 'pit-stop' ideology, most people visit, get what they need and go. Only weirdos hang around forever.

I can't decide if this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen or the funniest.. I watched this ol' gramma howl about this literal nobody. while standing in front of a painted picture of him with wings and a halo.

I needed two minutes to stop laughing.

So anyway I think Biden is gonna win this year because of this, who agrees?
If Biden wins I will laugh as much as when Trump won 4 years ago. I mean the US would switch from a foul-mouth egocentrical man to a senile, stuttering, corrupt, women-groping man. If that doesn't make you laugh then I don't know what. I will laugh even harder when Biden doesn't change anything from where Trump was. Who knows maybe he will declare BLM a terror organisation to get rid of the bad elements. If Biden oversees the wholesale disbanding of the police and the US fails what do you think will happen? Military intervention baby!

Well on the onehand people are now doing counter protests to protect monuments, on the otherhand this incident will be used to gaslight, smear and otherwise browbeat people.

Having looked at the videos provided kindly by the person mentioned in the article, I think the article is a load of tosh, both sides were lacking masks, I can't see any beer, nazi salute or any vile abuse other than "you're boring" and the other things mentioned in the text. All they have is one guy saying ‘why don’t you go back to Africa then’ once and people not agreeing with them.

I hope whenever someone brings this up they just get repeatedly told 'it was a peaceful counter protest' and 'it was only a minority of them, you can't paint them all with the same brush'.

I think I found the reason the article is very one sided, I would guess Super Gorgeous is Alice and Lucy is Anon.

Also I found out what they want to replace the police with, and you guessed it ... police which answer to the mob.

Meanwhile, even my boomer parents are scratching their head on why Americans are worshipping a literal criminal.

If the US wanted to destroy their international image, there's no better way than the current clownery.

Forgive me if I'm late for this, I've been avoiding any updates here for my mental health, but they finally arrested the guy that shot David Dorn. If it WAS shared prior, link the post. I'll just share my thoughts.

THIS is the "person's" mugshot being charged with shooting David Dorn.

"Black Lives Matter", yet this POS wants to shoot a BLACK cop during a riot and pandemic after robbing a business.

Clearly, David Dorn's life didn't matter to HIM. Thankfully, it did to his friends and coworkers at least.

He can rot in the jail; matter of fact, ... I'm just glad there's no bond for him. If he would've got bailed out, there is truly no justice in America.

Sorry, time for me to go.
