What happens if it gets pulled? Do they ever simply move the statue to another place out of sight but still intact, or do they always destroy them? Say what you will about the people the statues depict, but it's undeniable they've had impacts on history and are important pieces of art in themselves. They dishonor the artists and sculptors who worked on them. The Rhodes statue is as good as toppled.

Twenty-six Oxford city councillors signed a letter saying the figure at Oriel College was "incompatible" with the city's "commitment to anti-racism".
As I understand it the family still funds the uni but they are talking about stopping that if the statue gets pulled. It's getting pulled, this is just a softening up. A list of statues has been made. One by one we will see them fall. With the approval of politicians and councillors and police.
I doubt even the hard lads of the Inter City Firm et al can stand up to that kind of enemy. Then again they will have the support of the veterans this time, who really aren't going to stand by and watch their war memorials get torn down (because they are next of course and they know it).
History is moving ever faster, day by day. They really are all coming out of the woodwork now, like sharks that smell blood in the water.
I wonder if anyone records what statues are gone now, to remember what these people have destroyed.
