I think the major misunderstanding here is that Boxershorts doesn't get why people don't get married as much these days.

1. Economy sucks.
2. Careers take precedence over marriage and relationship seeking
3. It's an outdated concept that doesn't really mean much beyond wealth and property entitlements, so relates back to 1 and isn't viable.

I'm not married because I'm immature, I'm not married because I don't have time right now for that shit, trying to keep finances and career afloat.

A 14 year old is extremely impressionable and can't really understand the subtext in conversations and actions all that well. If a man that has significantly more life experience than her comes into her life, wanting to be her partner, aka becoming a larger part of her life than he is taking advantage of her naivety.
