Ok so first, I generally do avoid looking because I actually don’t have a lot of tolerance for medical horror, but...that is the worst I have seen.
And he is 70? Holy shit the surgical risk at that age would - or should - contraindicate all but necessary procedures.

Is it bad that I think people should have to see things like this before they get surgery? It's NSFL, sure, but informed consent is important for elective surgeries.

Nope, anything that shatters the delusion is not allowed. Surgeons sometimes don't even provide photos of their surgery results, or will require patients to sign NDAs. Sites like transbucket or reddit troon surgery subs are the closest there is to "informed consent", and there's a strong skew towards "good" results being more visible (due to upvotes or shame) versus "bad" results (even if most of them are, objectively, fucking awful). Troons will hide behind "BuT TheREs NAtuRaL VaRiAtIon iN CiS WoMyN" to act as if having a vagina under the labia, having hair inside the vagina, having a vagina with no rugae, or having a vagina that straight up doesn't stretch because it's a flesh pocket shoved into a man's crotch is normal in any way (spoiler: it isn't!).
The cope is insane. You'll see the odd ftm troon on trans subreddits swear that their vaginas look just like mtf stinkditches (despite most or all of them not having any experience with a vagina other than their own), for instance, which I find unlikely unless they have literal deformations. I've seen mtfs posing as lesbians swearing that it's ~just like the real thing~ which is hilarious to me. If you sort r/transgender_surgeries by controversial you'll see shit like troons downvoting a neovag because they thought it was a TERF trying to post a "disaster" and then other troons flocking to say it looks ~so good!~

ETA: if you look on subs like r/mypartneristrans and look for posts that aren't upvoted by narc troons, you'll see stuff like this with women in relationships with mtfs regretting their partners' surgeries. Troons will comment
stuff about the relationship maybe working out or suggesting poly or adult toys and the actual women will reply with stuff like "Same boat. It’s the worst. Been to this sub asking for answers too. There are none. She no longer has any sex drive, it doesn’t work, it’s not attractive (to me) and it is heart breaking. I think I’m going to end it if she won’t let us have an open relationship." Everything regarding transition is spoken of in euphemistic terms and the negative effects of hormones/surgery are rarely if ever discussed, even by medical professionals. Jazz Jennings' mother tried to forbid him from discussing the state of his frankencrotch publicly, since it might scare other "trans kids" away from troondom if he were honest about the surgery and what it entails. Same reason the late, great r/NeovaginaDisasters was taken down.
They really do not want anyone considering troondom to understand the risks of the treatments they may go through, even permanent ones like dick chop/arm skin tortilla. Any poor idiot considering them will be told that the result is indistinguishable from the real thing- even gynecologists can't tell the difference between a fauxgina and a real one! But there's no going back after the deed is done, so when they wake up from surgery and see the rotting hole carved into their taint they just have to suck it up and take it.
And it's not as if the doctors performing these surgeries are huge on ethics in the first place, let's be real.
