Dr. Rachel McKinnon / Dr. Veronica Ivy / Rhys McKinnon / Rachel Veronica McKinnon / Foxy Moxy / SportIsARight - failed out of a tenured job,man who competes in womens sports, gained like 100 lbs in 2022 (page 813), comically fell off bike before a race (page 830)

It kind of sounds like he just has zero comfort zone that extends beyond critical race theory and gender studies, where the rules are made up and the points don't matter (if you're a troon). So when he's asked to teach a class that goes anywhere else, he doesn't do the normie thing of cramming some new information into his brain and doing his best to cover the material, he just teaches the same schtick he already knows with a bit of a nod toward the actual topic.

I don't think he's planning to leave at all. Shit talking your boss like that seems more like something someone who thinks they are untouchable would do. I've no doubt he thinks that his troon shield is impenetrable (much like his stink ditch). I just happen to think that he is just as wrong about that as he is about being a true and honest woman.

If there is a way to get rid of Rhys, his boss will find it. I've no doubt about that. In the current climate, it's going to be tough -- but I do think as we shift the focus from transgender rights being the "civil rights of our decade" as Biden claimed back to regular old civil rights being an issue again, it might be hard to justify a white male "female" doing the lecturing on racism and ethics in business. Surely a black professor would be better suited for that. What does Rhys really know about racism? Has he lived that experience as a white Canadian? He needs to make way for some black voices to be heard. Might be easier to squeeze him out if you can justify it as making room for a black professor.

He filed an EEOC compliant. I wonder what the status of that is?

Assuming he really filed one and wasn't just grandstanding, it would be private and the only way we'll get any details is if he (or less likely, another involved party) leaks them.

Even someone with Rhys' limited capacities has to know that he's declared total war on his department at this point. EEOC complaints, gaming the system for "disability", threatening legal action, abandoning his job, calling his boss every name in the book on Twitter. I just can't decide whether he thinks he's untouchable or if he's already checked out and decided to go out in a blaze of glory.

I think he is untouchable at least until the EEOC complaint is resolved. COC won't fire him. Maybe they would if he were plagiarizing others...

We've already documented him plagiarizing himself, which is misconduct anywhere that cares, but CofC may not care.
Does anyone here have a Turnitin account? I wonder what would happen if some enterprising soul plugged his papers into there. I expect he hasn't plagiarized anyone but himself since no one else is worthy of the honor, but you never know.

I forgot about the EEOC complaint. Yeah, he is pretty much untouchable right now then. And probably for a while after that.

An ex-coworker of mine knew she was going to be laid off in the massive layoffs that were coming (because of poor work performance) and she went and made a sexual harassment claim against the department boss she was having a consensual affair with. Ironically, she also sexually harassed a male intern herself (but he refused to report it or allow me to report it for him). It worked, though. They fired him and she kept her job even though she was lazy and completely incompetent because it would look like retaliation to get rid of her. She made it another year until more layoffs hit and they were finally able to get rid of her.

He's not protected forever, but he'll manage a few more years of grift out this. EEOC complaints can take a while to process. His boss must be kicking himself for drinking the troon kool-aid.

The only (potential) upside is that high-profile chancer troons like this are the ones that peak the biggest number of regular people. It's not the tranny who lives down the street, it's Rhys, Yaniv and their ilk that draw attention to their appalling behaviour and groundless special treatment that offend the sensibilities of joe/jane average.

Sorry if I keep harping on this, but I don't think anyone in his department ever drank the kool-aid. They knew from early on that they were dealing with someone who had successfully gamed the system, but nobody felt empowered to stand up and say no to tenure in the absence of specific guidelines.

The docs behaviour is odd. It is a mix of acting untouchable and being an arse, but also acting desperate to stay in CofC by making all of the arguments for why the boss is wrong. Methinks the insecure bully is not sleeping that well presently.

Time for some kind of fun poll at the top of the thread regarding the docs future at CofC, the slumlording, etc?

Still sperging about his evaluation.

How much do you want to bet his content is 95% Troon related and 5% race?

As someone who has an MBA and once had a similarly terrible professor who wanted to do nothing but sperg about their pet issues instead of teaching Macroeconomics, I can tell you that he won't be teaching that particular course anymore. Universities really do give at least a little bit of weight to student evaluations, and I'd bet that his from his business ethics courses were uniformly terrible. If your tenured faculty member can't even handle teaching a discipline-specific course without going off the rails, it certainly doesn't reflect well on the department's competency in general.

I used to work in HR, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that they'll find a way to get rid of him regardless of tenure. I once had a serial complaint filer who threw up every smoke screen in the universe trying to keep her job. Sexual harassment, illegal whistleblower retaliation, EEOC, DOL, she even called the fucking EPA to report a violation that didn't have any factual basis. After about a month of dealing with her, I put her on a performance improvement plan that I knew she wouldn't be able to fulfill... Lo and behold, after another month, she violated the tenets of the plan that she agreed to, and was unceremoniously separated from the organization. If you don't think something extremely similar is occurring in the College of Charleston's philosophy department right now, I have a nice gently used bridge to sell you.

Do you think his initial hiring was fueled to some extent by kool-aid?

Check his CV and look at only stuff from before 2014:
What you see is a pretty average philosophy Ph.D who showed up, played the game, got some stuff published on serious topics, and also had a sideline in giving motivational speeches about being trans. As near as I can tell, he didn't really get toxic on the philosophy blogs till after joining up with CofC, so he may even have had a clean social media profile and reputation at the time.

I'm sure being able to check off some diversity checkboxes helped his case, academia being what it is, but it's not like it was a complete joke to hire him, based on what was known at the time.

Do you think his slacking and obnoxious behavior was unleashed by gaining tenure or is this some kind of vendetta against a boss who refused to kiss troon ass enough? I could see it going either way, though I lean more to narc injury caused by the boss (and maybe even colleagues) not fawning over him as much as he expected.

One issue worth considering: his rise at CofC coincided pretty neatly with the height of trans bathroom panic in the Carolinas, fueled by the controversy over North Carolina's HB2. It wasn't so much of a national story, but it was a very big deal in the region. I wouldn't be suprised if it was a factor in why the college went shopping for a trans faculty member, and in turn became a factor in granting him tenure despite the department's obvious misgivings -- the local political climate, especially in academic circles, would have made the likelihood of a scandal even greater.

I'm pretty sure he was already fully toxic by the time he got tenure. His obnoxious behavior on philosophy blogs seems to have started around the time he was first hired at CofC, for example.
By the time his tenure was up for a vote, we see slacking was already in full effect:

or is this some kind of vendetta against a boss who refused to kiss troon ass enough?
Since he recently mentioned clashing with multiple chairs, I think the same story repeats with every boss he has

The sad thing is, repulsive assholes like Rhys actually get paid to go away. He'll get a ton of money for making everyone else miserable. The College will have to make cuts elsewhere (which negatively impacts students and their education) all because he's a raging narc that is too lazy to do his job.

That's life, I suppose. But, in a fair world, he'd be escorted from the campus with his box of belongings and not be given one red cent. I just hope karma comes back around with a strong right hook.

What kind of professional outlook awaits him, honestly? Unless he gets paid enough to live off of for the rest of his life, he is in huge trouble. Who would ever hire rhys for anything? He has a worthless degree and failed at academia so hard that tenure couldn't protect him. The professor that revealed he believes in big foot after getting tenure still has a job, despite the entire college being completely embarrassed by his presence. What is rhys's excuse?
