Goodbye Volcano High - "The Future of Gaming", The Parody Game of the Beloved Snoot Game Franchise

I love it when these assholes get hoisted by their own petard.

But this also highlights one of the things I hate about SJWs, their woeful hypocrisy, we can't have something like DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball but explicit porn featuring semi realistic looking underage characters is ok to watch and laugh about? (or so they thought)

It's also amazing that you can get canceled for something from last year now, why did Kotaku think that article was appropriate to publish as recently as last year?

It's official, dinosaurs are no longer cool.

Dinosaurs haven't been cool since they started saying they had feathers, which these designs reflect.

The first thing to note with this is that it's funny how furries have completely overlooked this in favor of drawing assloads of porn of that female Lombax from the R&C trailer, including not even an hour after the reveal.

The second thing is that this game highlights everything wrong with the indie gaming scene of today. While years ago game console makers pushed the idea of indie games (Microsoft went the furthest with XNA and later the XBL Creators program), the problem is for every smash hit like Hotline Miami, Minecraft, or Undertale, there are lots of shovelware games like this. Here's a game that's probably going to be a visual novel/point and click adventure game with an aesthetic straight out of a corner of Tumblr. Not only does nobody care about it, but people are actively mocking the game harder than many indie games in this vein.

The third thing is of course she got canceled for something. Unlike Tim Soret where you kind of feel bad for him after his unique looking game got overlooked and "ran into issues" thanks to an old tweet saying "I Support #Gamergate", nobody is going to miss this game if it runs into issues. Then there's the fact she actually did something controversial instead of just piss off the mob at Era. The fact her game was likely catering to the mob means that getting "canceled" hurts it so much more.

It's hilarious how gamers used to say indie games would "save" gaming in the face of AAA gaming.

While there might still be a few worthwhile indie titles, the vast majority of them are SJW bullshit just as creatively bankrupt, if not even more so, than AAA gaming (how many roguelike, metroidvanias are there?)

I'd take Call of Duty over something like Goodbye Volcano High anyday.

I think you're all being too hard on the game. The story is about hope unlike TLOU2.

Like at the end it features a bunch of narcissistic libtards getting nuked by a meteor, like I hope that happens.

Also my theory is Kotaku published that article because the editor got sexual favors which lead to them making industry connections and allowing this abomination to see the light of day.

To expand a bit on that Kotaku article, it was posted on Jason Schrier's watch. The guy who said anyone attracted to the Sorcerers in Dragons Crown was a pedophile.

Kotaku's missteps are too many to repeat here.

I don't know if game journos are going to defend the game or not. It's not a soyny exclusive and they likely aren't getting any payola from an indie dev, but she is connected, but I expect the narrative to be in full force by morning if they do go all in.

What's strange is I don't know why. Maybe indies are out there and they aren't being covered, but outside of a few Patreon porn games and perpetual early access trend chasers, the non-SJW indies seemed to have vanished.

But that's a legit question. The trailer indicated nothing.
I bet you that the developers are either pretentious "gamers bad" artfag types, or that they think that they can make another Night In The Woods style walking simulator that sells based on the art direction alone. There are a ton of games that have good art direction but just plain suck gameplay wise and they're hated for a reason.

None of those gamers actually made their own games, they were just praying for something that never came. I see this mentioned so often in parts of the internet; there hasn't ever been a better time to make a game than now.

Creativity wise the cloning issue is an even bigger issue than the SJW preachy game issue. Why play a clone of a classic game when you can play the original in your favorite emulator? Then of course there's the Early Access and Kickstarter issue, and that ended up making a bigger joke out of that scene than any walking simulator ever could.

A lot of internet creative scenes have gotten progressively shittier over time, especially as a lot of stuff doesn't get saved when good artists/YouTubers DFE or content otherwise vanishes. Indie gaming isn't the only one but let's be honest, it was lousyish to begin with. Remember the Ouya and how well that "indie only" console did? Or even XNA and the XBL Creator program? XNA games were in a fenced off ghetto on the 360 before they shut that store down.
