The protesters keep going on about gassing a 6 year old kid, and saying gas was going into people's living rooms, which is bad but it isn't "horrific violence" by the police. It's collateral damage from necessary crowd control, remarkably limited damage at that, and I'm inclined to blame the crowd that spent weeks being where they shouldn't be for the gas that got where it shouldn't be.

There's actually paper specifically for gardening. I've used newspaper and also plastic sheeting, as well as actual mulch. It's all shit if you're not even going to till the soil though.

These people really are victims of magical thinking. Note the totemic association between food trucks and food, as if you can't make any other kind of truck into a food truck. You need to have the actual commercial variety of food truck, with a full kitchen inside and everything. You can't just put together a simple portable kitchen and throw it in the back of a cheap pickup. It has to be a "food truck".
Seattle homeless are like seagulls. They can be resourceful and aggressive, and anything that looks vaguely like "free food" will be quickly overwhelmed by their numbers. CHAZ don't stand a prayer against them.
I mean to be fair there is a long list of rules and regulations which establish proper hygiene and safety standards on food trucks with sadly makes the fabrication of one out of a normal truck and a portable kitchen quite a costly endeavor that requires considerable time and effort.

But the community-led public safety system will be entirely unarmed (except the "violence interruption workers, but they won't be agents of the state and we don't talk about their role). It'll be great! Can't have deadly force abuse if all the various "intervention" workers are unarmed. Besides the highly trained social workers we send out will be able to solve the root causes of all crime. Well, them and the communism we'll also need to implement because the real root cause of all crime is the capitalist system, of course.
In fact, by getting rid of the actual police, which are agents of a fascist government, we can ensure all of the community-led public safety personnel are with us on the greater cause (they will be entirely staffed by x-studies majors, of course) and can take action against that fascist capitalism. They'll be totally loyal to the "community" instead of the state or federal constitutions. Those things are part of the problem anyways.
