Just got to read the review. It's a great academia example, where the rating scale is something like Excellent, Very Good, Good, Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory. It's actually pretty surprising that they rated him Very Good and THEN felt they needed to take his writing so much to task as well as mention that the President had to specifically call him out for his media appearances.

I still think the plan is to try and box him out so he quits on his own. They could have really murdered him in this for not attending department meetings and failing his undergraduate panel thing. But at the same time they're handing him sabbatical, letting him not even teach, all but telling him not to show up anyway, etc. Then if they have to simply not renew his contract. He'd be incredibly stupid to sue over that path by the school.

Hopefully his declaration of war on Facebook is real and he thinks he can make them fire him by making things messy. He'll quickly find out just how many "allies" he truly has in academia if his plan is to try and take down the department and school with himself. It was a few pages back but might be relevant to the Separation Saga, unless I missed something I don't think he filed an EEOC complaint (EDIT: as pointed out below, he does say he filed an EEOC complaint so I stand corrected, although I'll leave the rest because I don't think the complaint is what the eval was referencing ). The letter said that the EEO office had recognized he had a disability. This probably means he filed a request for a reasonable accommodation, and the EEO office was the one who had the authority to grant the request, which they did. It would then make sense that his accommodation spelled out that it didn't mean he was excused from participating in departmental governance among other things. I would love to see what his request was for, they can be for everything from the mundane to the absurd, but sadly that probably won't be leaked. (EDIT: Plus now I want to see his EEOC complaint! Those also range from reasonable to batshit). Also worth noting: to successfully pursue an EEOC complaint you have to identify a negative employment action, and giving a "satisfactory" rather than an "excellent" performance eval does not meet the definition.

Also, I can't imagine the faculty really want him gone enough to fire him or pay him to fuck off, and his realizing that may be the cause for the "I was hacked" reaction. In practice, his leadership will probably smile patiently and say that they want him to reach his full potential, and hope that he will take to heart the advice of his chair, develop his course curriculum to an acceptable standard, and show a commitment to the department. Which he will find very condescending and will probably send him into fits of impotent (heh) red faced narc rage on Twitter.
