All right, so here in NY:
I was gonna say it sounds like you're a bit out of touch but then you kind of admitted you're out in Suffolk so it goes without say. Considering I'm actually based in NYC, as in the 5 boroughs, some things you say don't quite line up.
1. The Dems have lost basically every major labor union in NYC by allowing and encouraging the riots. This was one of the biggest financial backers of the Dems regionally, and they lost them.
Being an entertainer I have a lot of friends in Local 1 Stagehands and they're still pushing for blue. My buddy in Verizon said he is still getting messages from the Verizon union to vote blue. Another buddy of mine in the Masonry union and does most of the work at Javits said they're still saying to vote blue. Until I hear otherwise from people actually in unions in NYC, I'm going to go ahead and believe the unions still support this bullshit.
2. Transit companies are now refusing to do deliveries or head through NYC and increasingly shipping to/from Long Island is happening via boat.
Lol where did this one come from? Sounds like no one wants to drive all the fuck out to Suffolk is what it sounds like. All my friends who own stores here in the 5 boroughs are getting deliveries just fine. No one likes driving out to Suffolk because it's fucking far and goes nowhere. You drive all the way out there, then you have to turn around and drive all the way back. All my truck driving buddies hate driving to Suffolk and it's only been lessened in recent years because Suffolk finally smartened up and put a rest stop on the ass end of the LIE so that truck drivers could finally stop to get gas and buy a snack without having to take their rig off the highway and drive through local streets.
3. The police just got defunded by about 24% in NYC, which means the fact that Nassau cops make a pittance compared to their Suffolk counterparts just got much worse. If you think that anyone remotely involved with Law enforcement will back any establishment democrat in this lifetime after this, you're fucking insane.
Where are you even getting these numbers? Nothing has been decided but things have been proposed. Here's an article from yesterday:
NEW YORK (WABC) -- Members of the New York City Council announced that they believe they can cut $1 billion in NYPD spending in the 2021 fiscal budget. ... "The mayor has said we're committed to reprioritizing funding and looking for savings, but he does not believe a $1 billion cut is the way to maintain safety," said Mayor de Blasio spokesperson, Freddi Goldstein.
They're still arguing on actually cutting anything so I'm not sure where you got the 24% number and that it's actually happened. Unless that's long island politics which is it's own thing.
4. NYC already had countless residents flee the city over the COVID lockdowns. It then had a massive number of people flee the city over the riots. This was after all the other shit that happened during the lead-up to 2020. There was already billions in budgetary shortfall for NYC, and there is no way on God's green earth that the city won't go bankrupt from this.
Massive number of residents flee the city over the riots? Dude are you just making up shit right now to try and get internet stickers?! Maybe they're fleeing suffolk, but who doesn't given the chance? True people left over Covid, but most of them were wealthy business people who fled out to the hamptons to hide in summer rentals, and hipsters who all ran back to their parent's houses in their flyover states. Most of NYC are actual born and bred NYC citizens like myself, who did flee anywhere because we have nowhere else to go, and working class immigrants who didn't flee for the same reasons. As far as fleeing over the riots? I haven't heard of anyone fleeing. I've been here almost 50 years and know tons of people, especially in entertainment where I make my living and as far as I can tell, everyone's still here.
On top of that, NYC might be a blue state but not every borough is blue. You probably haven't noticed but in the 5 borough the rioting and destruction has been contained to mostly Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Extremely blue and liberal areas - especially brooklyn between it's poor black neighborhoods and gentrified kale loving hipster neighborhoods. Queens has a lot of areas that lean to the right (my neighborhood actually has Trump 2020 flags hanging from telephone poles) and Staten Island, which is virtually all red. I'm in Queens and haven't seen a single thing related to this bullshit - no BLM posters or flags, no marching, no rioting. I've been watching Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx get shit on by these thugs from my house while I sit in my yard enjoying the weather.
Also - news flash - the city was pretty much bankrupt before all this happened. That's why so many people were saying Cuomo was working overtime to fuck the city's economy with the ultra restrictive covid lockdown, so he could claim that the bankruptcy came from covid and try to get federal funds to save the city.
5. Everyone hates the fucking lockdowns and hates the rioters even more.
I'll give you the lockdowns. People are more mad over the lockdowns than the rioters though because most people are furious about Cuomo and de Blasio's needless restrictions and how he's trying to tank our economy for federal funds. The majority of stuff I see on my facebook feed from all my NYC friends tends to follow the demographics of the boroughs. Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx are all like "I can't believe this is happening here" - Brooklyn is especially cucked with the "this is just stuff and it's not more important than black lives" bullshit. And Queens and Staten Island people, again who lean mostly right, are the ones saying, "Will someone shoot these animals already?"
6. Suffolk will not bail Nassau out, and will not tolerate the bullshit like NYC would. Suffolk's cops are financed and trained locally, so don't worry about us, we've got our own towns east of the shithead zone relatively secure.
Ahahahaahahaha everyone talks about how detached from reality people out in Suffolk are because of how backwater it is and this is a perfect example. Last I checked, protestors tried to enter Nassau via Merrick blvd and were turned back by residents and police and forced to turn around and leave. Meanwhile you guys out in suffolk had a shitshow with that massive BLM protest march down main street in Smithtown. And that's probably as far east as they'll go anyway. I mean what's really further out in Suffolk? Mastic? Shirley? Those are like if trailer parks were towns. Wyandanch? That's like Suffolk's version of Detroit. Everything there is already destroyed anyway. Suffolk is like backwater Tennessee - it's a long stretch of nothing that we have to drive through to get to the hamptons and montauk.
I mean, I don't expect you to actually know what goes on in the 5 boroughs - to Suffolk people Nassau is "the city". The 5 boroughs is like Oz. It's the land whispered about but none of you actually dare to travel that far.
I can't believe you wrote all this bullshit to get internet stickers and didn't think for a moment that there were other New Yorkers, actual ones, here on the farms who'd call you on it.
