Just making their own story is how we ended up with that otome a few pages back where everyone's kweer and it's basically every other magical girl story all at once. I don't know if all of these people know how to write. It's just easier for them to adapt to another story/universe than create their own from scratch.

Yeah, but that would require effort and originality. Why bother making your own content when you can just bastardize characters while simultaneously getting clout from fans of the show?

Eh, for some of them it could be they grew up with it and feel nostalgic, like how most millennials still appreciate Rugrats, Powerpuff Girls, Recess, etc. For others it could be that they just enjoy that media despite its demographic, like bronies with My Little Pony, or anyone who likes Avatar The Last Airbender (which you could argue isn't necessarily a "dumb kids show," just another victim of the animation age ghetto.) Or they're just that young that it still currently appeals to them.
