Also I have to wonder if the wedding date @Ron Toye claimed they're aiming for, winter of 2021, was always the date or if they keep pushing it back every year because reasons. Again, why wait that fucking long? They clearly have (well, had now :story:) the money for a ceremony, but if they had just married at the courthouse, they wouldn't have to spend so much, and then Ron could've gotten spousal privilege in that he wouldn't have to have gotten himself this deep into this legal mess he's in because his fiancée's a fat pill-popping whore, and he wouldn't have ever been obligated to be potentially called to testify against his beloved Monica.

But nah, marriage is just a piece of paper, means nothing to the wife-beater.

Actually, I think it means way more to Ron than it does Monica. To Ron, marriage is a new level of possession and control over his partners. It's why he gets bothered when people point out that they've been engaged for a frankly embarrassing amount of time. Deep down, he knows that his celebrity fiancee isn't willing to settle for him.

The scary thing is that marriage is indeed used as a tool to manipulate and exert further control over someone since marriage is essentially bonding yourself to another individual. That gives the abuser a whole new range of abuse and some minor protections. So usually an abuser would try and pressure their victims into marriage quite fast for these reasons. It's perfectly legitimate for concerned people to have some misgivings about marriage as it puts you in this literal hole with another person and once the deal is sealed, good luck trying to climb out later.

Most marriages are usually a year or two after the engagement. People got married by a marriage booth this year....i doubt these two are getting marriage they are just saving face until the lawsuit ends. It doesn't really take that long to get married and with the many alternatives (courthouse, Vegas, backyard etc.) There's literally no reason to be engaged for 8 years.

Actually when I met them back in 2015. I mentioned that I was going to get married, and she said that she was getting married sometime in 2016. Funny how things turn out.

I guess her being raped fucked her up that she gotta be with dysfunction. I kinda feel bad about her but trying to lie on a innocent person made me lost all sympathy for her.
