ActBlue is a funding platform, kind of like IndieGogo. Any lefty/liberal organization can sign up to collect their funding on it. Presumably ActBlue itself takes a cut for servicing fees, but the funds are segregated out for the target organization.

The difference is, there's a line in the Terms that says if an organization doesn't claim their funds within 30 days, those funds revert to ActBlue itself. There's "abandonment" clauses like that in many payment processors, 30 days seems a bit fast though.

So a BLM donation does get allocated to BLM. Unless they decided, fOr sOmE mYsTeRIOus rEaSOn, to just leave the money in the account and let it go to ActBlue instead. Whether that's actually happening or not has not yet been shown. I don't know what kind of disclosures are involved with ActBlue's incorporation, but if funds were abandoned it has to be recorded somewhere.

I could see the account holder siphoning off some "donations" and using them for themselves. And ActBlue just gets whatever is left.

Not to power level too much, but when my mom caught that on the news, she legitimately tried to tell me they should've just let him go even if he had the taser. It was fucking insane to me hearing that.

My dad was similar. He seemed somewhat distraught I didn't feel bad for the guy. If you treat your family like shit, people should not feel bad for you when cops get your ass.

Yeah, and now cops are quitting because they're being treated like absolute shit by the people they've sworn to protect. Soon enough, the only cops who are going to remain are the dick cops, and the only people who are going to join the force are bad people who don't care if people hate them.

The entire last week has been people who don't understand force or the use of force, opining on how force should be used.

If you've got a burner account on any social media site, find one of those "they should have let him go" people and ask them, "write a specific regulation that tells a cop when it's OK to let a guy go when he has stolen a weapon, and when he is allowed to shoot". They can't do it. None of these idiots calling for police reform can write a single usable regulation.

"they should be trained better!" - trained with what rules?
"they should use less force!" - then what's the specific new line where they can use force?
"Tasers aren't lethal weapons!" - before George Floyd, police reform types were pissy about Tasers causing deaths. Life comes at you fast.
"they should de-escalate!" - there was nothing to de-escalate in the Brooks situation, it was 26 minutes of talking and then he snapped
"they shouldn't have tried to cuff him!" - please write out the regulation for "this is when you should let drunk drivers go"
THAT BOOT MUST TASTE GREAT YOU FASCIST - etc

The rule for taking someone seriously is their willingness to discuss the tradeoffs. Not generally, not "agree with me and then we'll work out the details", either they can have the hard conversation and agree to a rule or their entire opinion should be discarded.

The tasers causing deaths thing really got me earlier when I heard about the story. The amount of hypocrisy from the american left is unbelievable.

What game wouldn’t be offensive to these people? Obviously every shooter is offensive and violent (especially if it’s set in the Middle East), GTA is police brutality (and racist for stereotyping blacks), Assassins Creed isn’t diverse enough since it’s mostly set in white civilizations, Civilization IV is colonization, Wii Fit might call you a fat piece of shit (nicely), Resident Evil 5 makes Africans enemies in a survival horror game, Pokémon is slavery, ad infinitum. What’s left? Tetris?

I remember people hating Christian moms for being like “dONT plAY ThoSE viOlent GamEs TimOTHy”. A Catholic fundies and anarcho commies cross over? Who would have thought.
