The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In case people are wondering just how the fuck this happened, it was apparently because Druckman kept reassuring them that everything was OK throughout the process. This was the studio that gave them Crash bandicoot, Crash 2, Crash 3, Crash team Racing, Jak, Jak 2 ,jak 3, uncharted, Uncharted 2, and Uncharted 3. All big sellers so they did not want to upset the apple cart.

Sony will be more hands off in general because more often than not, it has proved to be way more beneficial to let the developers do their thing uninhibited by an overseer corporate boardroom(i.e. avoiding a too many cooks situation). Demons' Souls(and you could probably count the entire Souls series in general) was made this way as were many others.

No Man's Sky documented troubles showed that Sony as a publisher will help ease major problems that arise to an extent(i.e. the last minute sticker put on the package that blocked off any mention of multiplayer). But after the game is released it lives and dies by it's own merits. If the leak did not happen the rumored course of actionwas that the project was going to be handed off to another studio to fix who had experience in the same genre(possibly Santa monica or Guerrilla) and issued refunds shortly after, but the leak happened so quickly and so sudden that they abandoned those plans. if the leak did not happen the game would have been shelved and reworked for another year and a half.

People may compare it to Death Stranding but Kojima allowed Sony product placement to reduce production costs and be given more leeway and the game did wind up turning a profit and selling well. Kojima also regularly showed new builds.

When the refunds were issued that was a big sign that they knew it was shit.

Here I was thinking that the context would soften the blow of this shit and it would die down, but every bit of this piece of shit is just as pointless and excruciating as the last, how the fuck did he do it kiwis? how did he make the most pretentious piece of shit game ever imagined

At least death stranding was entertaining, also pressing X on the game being reworked, even in crunch there is no way to fix this piece of shit story within the time it takes to add mocap. you come off as abit of a fanboy but if you believe they could rework this shit in that time frame with how long cinematics take to make, you either high or retarded, probably both

Just pulls a Departed on him eeh?
No, that was a good movie. This is a bad movie.

What the fuck is going on here? Wasn't the first one a good-but-not-great Walking Dead cash in? How did it get to this?

Btw unlike most people ITT, I don't play vidya, so I'm pretty much a normie in this situation. My reaction will be shared by a lot of casuals and peoples' parents who buy them games and such. Where's Jack Thompson when you need him?

Games can be art, but none of these masturbatory "story based games" are art. We lost the plot when we moved from gameplay based games like Super Mario World to... Well, this shit.
The reason I say games will never be art is art implies a sense of being emotionally challenging and as a demographic gamers really detest that and are liable just to dismiss that experience. Either by playing and rewarding simpler games or by eventually tearing down the game that challenged them as quaint and feeble later on. And the games industry itself is really pathetic and immature so they can't counteract these forces the same way publishing and movies do. Not that either of those mediums are perfect obviously. This is all obviously based on experience but games like TLOU2 are just going to further entrench "anti-artistic" attitudes, and for good reason. In my opinion Ebert was right to say no CURRENT video game will survive to see the medium become art.

A man called Neil Duckmann decided to share his fetish porn with the world and got sony to pay him 100 Million dollars to do it.

That and games are literally a product/commodity that can be mass produced and downloaded and typically require the work of dozens of people where as there is only one, I repeat ONE, Pieta sculpted by ONE man.

Movies are the same way though, not all movies are art either.
