Turning off the comments is the only way a content creator has to avoid getting comments mass flagged which can and will lead to your channel getting de-monetized.
The like/dislike ratio technically can't be switched off, the content creator still can see the ratio, just those who watch the video can't see it but they can still like or dislike it.
Albeit it's not really important what ratio you have as the YouTube algorithm counts every comment, every like on a comment (dislikeing commenst doesn't work for years now), and every video like/dislike as one interaction with the video, the algorithm doesn't differentiate between like or dislike it's just one interaction for him. 5 likes= 5 interactions, 5 dislikes = 5 interactions, 3 likes and 2 dislikes = 5 interactions makes absolute no difference for the algorithm.

And keep in mind, most of us understand why Chauvin deserves whatever he gets. This is not Chauvin.

I do not disagree with anything presented above.... With the exception of the word "panicked".... as that was never how I described the situation.... I do not believe anybody panicked, but I do see both a legal and rational case for an overreaction.

I've always been dubious that likes and dislikes are one-to-one. I'm certain a video with all dislikes is preferred by the algorithm to a video with none of either. But I wonder if there's a source for the one-to-one thing?

I hear a lot of streamers say this, but it's usually the ones who alienated their bases and are clawing desperately for some pyrrhic victory. And I have no horse in this race, either. I think absolute speds should be signal-boosted so everyone can see what absolute speds they are, if anything. Daylight. Disinfectant. It's not like they're getting any of my money.

I just had a sort of Inspector Finch moment, where for a moment I could almost swear I can see everything that's going to happen.

Riots and looting destroying black communities, leading to an increase in unemployment and poverty in an already thoroughly fucked community, which in turn leads to an increase in black criminality, leading to an increase in police confrontations and inevitably the deaths of more black people. More riots occur shoving the already dying black community further into the grave. More poverty, more crime, more deaths, more rioting, rinse and repeat.
As black violence becomes an increasingly common response to any injustice real or imagined the sympathies of whites begin to evaporate completely. In fact more and more people begin to consider that perhaps, just perhaps, everyone who said black people were savage animals may have a point. Racism increases. The black community responds with more crime, more violence.

With black on black murders having skyrocketed, and justified shootings of black men at the hands of officers at an all time high, the situation is grim. Add to that the even more extreme poverty in the black community leading to more aborted black babies the African American population begins a freefall. They're commiting self inflicted genocide and nobody cares but them. Well, them and the KKK, who are absolutely fucking thrilled about it.

And I'm starting to wonder if this isn't in fact the end goal of all this. How better to commit genocide than to make it completely justifiable?

The algorithm prefers the videos with the most interactions, but that's not the only thing he does put into account he also counts views and average view time of a video, but to a way lesser extent.
Actually you can go and ask YouTube about it, it's not really a secret how the system works. I have a youtube channel (albeit a irrelevant one in the grand scheme of things) myself that's why I know it's not just streamers who say that.
Also worth mentioning is that the videos on the US trending page on YouTube are handpicked by YouTube employees, it more a Editors pick than a real trending page, that's why you see so much MSM, Late Night shit, >insert generic thot youtuber in here< and the usual corporate shills on it.

That all sounds about right. I just wonder if it's ever been said by youtube or shown by autists that the likes and dislikes are 1-to-1 equal. Because the only thing I hear more often than that is that "nobody actually understands the algorithm, and anyone who says they do is lying."

I don't even try to understand it because they're changing their policies every fucking five minutes. I just have roughly 150 subscribers and tbh, I grow incresingly sick and tired with their bullshit, while dudes like PewDie Pie, RiceGum et al more or less can do what they want.

TL;DR: the smaller the channel the harder they come down on you. It's almost like a caste system.
