I've been watching a playthrough and when they have you play Abby I seriously thought they were going to make you kill Joel. I just kept saying to myself "No, they wouldn't....would they?"

Its the kind of stuff I lump into the "model train sperg" category

I.e. its shit that has zero capacity to negatively impact me or anyone else in any real way and is almost universally kept by its afficianados in quiet and self contained communities, and thus no matter how weird or autistic I might personally find it, I genuinely have nothing bad to say about them and wish them the best and a continued comfortable obscurity free from the horseshit plaguing every halfway major and popular fandom or activity

When I was growing up we have a vegetarian friend of the family who tried to wean her cat off meat. One of our friends was a biologist and explained patiently that cats are obligate carnivores and can't digest anything but meat. As he put it cats have a gut this long [separates hands by about a cat length] and thus don't have space for the extra steps needed to digest anything else. She gave it meat and potatoes and mixed them up. The cat carefully separated the meat from the potatoes and ate only the meat and the biologist dude laughed at her when she told him.

Now it seems to me that the rainbow flag/alphabet people crowd are trying to do something analogous. They know that most gamers are straight men and that straight men despise gay sex so they're trying to mix it in with the gameplay.

I'm not sure there's an equivalent strategy to separating the meat from the veg in this case though. You pretty much have to decline the whole meal.

Actually I suspect all meals are going to be poison to you if you've got a Sony system.

What I find interesting about this storyline is how they appear to be pushing the "parents who don't let their kids troon out are abusive" angle, but I find that this plot just reinforces the "most girls troon out due to abuse or trying to escape womanhood".

Lev was about to be forced to marry an elder as per tradition, so it's not surprising that a young girl would want to be a "boy" to escape such a shitty fate. It's amazing to see Abby and Lev's sister discuss how "Lev" always felt like a boy on the inside since she was young, all while completely ignoring the outside factors that pushed Lev to feel that way in the first place. They talk about the abuse and the horrible sexist tradition, but then do nothing with it or act like it has any influence on why Lev wants to be a boy. They just accept that Lev said she felt like a boy, therefore she MUST be one.
