The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Sooooooo now that the full spoilers are out, I gotta ask; what exactly was the point of this entire game's plot?

Like seriously, all this constant misery, death, pandering, ugliness, violence and angst, and for what grand purpose the audience is supposed to take away from all this? I mean, c'mon, you can't just do all this misery porn for something other then "heh, see how dark and mature we are". You can be as edgy and violent as you want, and cater to as many people as you want, but if you don't have at least something to offer in return, then this really is as the quote from Macbeth details. " A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Like, seriously Druckmann, you are given carte blanche and all the time in the world, and this is the result of all that?

It's amazing that the character that gets closest to a happy ending is Dina. She lives, she becomes a Mom, she doesn't sustain a permanent injury, AND she looks like she can go live a happy life. Keep in mind that her baby daddy was shot in the eye AND her lover left her to fulfill a vendetta. That's the closest any character comes to happiness.

Hell, Tommy lived but apparently he's getting divorced and he's a cripple now.

Regarding the question as to what did we learn from this, I'd say we learned to

1) Never trust any "creative" who praises and/or consults with Anita Sarkessian;
2) Never trust any "creative" in the video game industry who can't complete a project within say 4 years (which is still too long but no where near as bad as this or FF15);
3) Never trust any "creative" obsessed with inserting current year/woke BS in their games;
4) Never trust any "reviewer" that gave this pos a 8/10 or greater especially while they say stupid contradictory things like "the game isn't fun"; and above all
5) Never, EVER (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfqlRPsqOCw), trust a "creative" that doesn't want their games to be fun.

Edit : Finally found the appropriate clip

Honestly, Joel got a happy ending. if we take the final cutscene, the only thing he wanted in life was for Ellie to forgive him. Her pleading for his life was just that. Man probably died happier.

101)THE ARM BAR.

I don't know how but the franchise as a whole already feels used up before the second entry even comes out
Joel's death was an emotional trauma that anyone who cared has coped with for more then a month at this point, saping whatever emotion there was to go with it. Now almost all activity are carrion birds picking at the remnants of this "emotional journey"(read as "absurdist manifesto"), people defending it solely for political/social reasons, and normie who has better things to do and is mindlessly excited because he is a low information customer. The biggest fear will be how many of these low information customers end up buying the game.
Thankfully they have bloated the game's budget to the point that even a small margin lower then projected sales could really hurt them.

I finally got what they were going for, A parallel of joels loss being his redemption coping by raising ellie, where as ellie's cope is destructive, antithetical to the first games themes, the only problem is this doesn't build on the first game but makes it instead feel rather pointless by having ellies journey be worth nothing as well as joels in retcon

To be honest the final fight between Abby and Ellie is very cool. No health bars. Going back to basics. Very dynamic.
The only problem is that you have to ignore the pants on head stupidity of Ellie to make it work. When Ellie decided to kill Abby, she does it in the most pants on head retarded way.
Why the fuck did she not use her weapons? Why the fuck did she motivate Abby to fight back? Most importantly, WHY THE FUCK DID SHE ANNOUNCE TO THE PERSON SHE WAS TRYING TO KILL THAT SHE WAS GOING TO KILL THEM?

Ellie is too dumb to live and deserves to never be able to play guitar again because she was too stupid to not just knife Abby. (Joel did not deserve this).

Once again, this game is proof that giving someone unrestricted free reign to do whatever the holy heck they want on a project almost NEVER works out, especially if it is the sequel to such a highly acclaimed game that also costs the publisher and studio millions and millions of dollars, along with extreme amounts of worker crunch.

When will the journalists learn that by propping this sort of stuff up as being "masterpieces", they are only encouraging more of this sort of bad behavior?

Here's some good news
