Holy fuck im watching Muta's stream, this whole flashback with Abby is a fucking retcon of the previous game to make Joel look like a worse person. They literally jumped to this conclusion in one day with a few tests, and the previous game has logs that show they conducted this same test multiple times on different people with no cure in sight. The fireflies are shown to be composed of incompetant morons who get bit by their own test monkeys and are literally pushed down to one remaining base after being completely crushed by both the military and months of traveling through harsh weather, to escape them. They also make Marlene out to want Ellie alive, despite the fact that of all the people in the fireflies she seems the most devoted to murdering Ellie for the greater good in the first. Utter nonsense.

Well, it was obvious all this time, the sequel is a piece of junk, and even with all those overwhelmingly positive reviews from corrupt video game journalists, ordinary gamers have been outraged with what they have finally got. To be honest, this is really an achievement for Naughty Dog as a company, they really managed to produce the game worse than their amateur products from the early 90s (Rings of Power, Way of the Warrior). Based on the rough plot outlines I have read it is not only that Druckmann's vision is offputting but the execution is awful too. You can make changes to the story to make it decent. You can keep Joel being killed in front of Ellie but keep it ambiguous on who did it (maybe she witnesses it after being knocked over the head and is delirious for example).. Have Ellie piece together it was Abby but in reality, it was not her but a rogue element of some unrelated faction. Make Joel's death occur a few hours later and after fleshing out Ellie's guilt for not saving humanity and Joel's selfishness through the eyes of Abby. Hell even commit to the idea that Ellie's sexuality is potentially dooming humanity since her immunity will die with her (you can make it dark by revealing it was a rape that cemented Ellie's sexuality and her learning to accept Joel in the first game was her healing process). Fully commit to the theme of revenge is short-sighted and have the audience turn on Ellie by showing her entire quest and brutality was based on a lie. In fact, go so far as to leave the end ambiguous on if she dies or not. You can deconstruct previous works and even
