So I looked at a cutscene compilation (because lets be real, the gameplay is a fucking joke), and when I finally got to the flashback scene with Joel and Ellie, the first thing he does is go up to her and hug her. Considering how physically averse Joel was in the last game really drives home just how much he loves Ellie, and him just hugging her like that and she doesn't immediately push him away, but he's looking confused after the push says a lot about how they've developed offscreen over the 5 year gap.

But no, it's all wasted. All shit on and torn apart because Neil Druckmann wanted to let you know how much he hated the thing you liked because it had a straight white male willing to do terrible things for the people he loved. He is a weak, manipulative, sadistic coward hiding behind the shield of his Woke Powers That Be, while he laughs and shits in his own hand to throw at you, letting you know it was all him as you get beat down for daring to speak up about it. This man wasted 100 million dollars to curbstomp an IP that scores of people genuinely loved for its positive messages and grey on grey morality.

Rate me MATI all you want, but the fact remains that this was a deliberate deconstruction of something people liked because it's not what HE liked. This game was made for no one but him.

Just started the game, about 10 minutes in. The word "bigot" was already said like 3 times and the first conflict presented was a dude getting drunk and it being foreshadowed that he called Ellie a slur for lesbian or something because she kissed another girl. The guy apologized the next day and made Ellie sandwiches as a show of good will but she called them "bigot sandwiches" and gave them to some asian kid.

I was right to buy this game, it turned into a trainwreck the second perspective switched away from Joel. I wonder who is gonna play this and go "whoa, I had no idea homophobia was bad until this game told me."

The game has a lot of dead air where the characters just talk and you climb on stuff. Seems everytime i tune in to a streamer they aren't actually fighting zombies or other survivors or their damn dogs with names.
