Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Premiers in an hour and 35 minutes. Talking more about how Donal scammed me over merchandise profits:

EDIT: And talking about how he already spent campaign money yet can't pay me.
EDIT: embedded
Why not wait until after the campaign was fulfilled before going nuclear like this? These are likely to do more harm than good as far as your chances of being paid now. You should've spoken to an attorney if you feel you're owed 5-figures, not rant on Youtube.

I don't know how many times I have to answer this question, but if he couldn't properly credit me, and if he couldn't pay me for the tshirts, why should I believe he'll pay me now what I'm owed?

I did talk to a lawyer. And I am entitled to profits. But taking legal action would cost me money I don't have.

So if he isn't gonna pay me for the tshirts, if he isn't gonna credit me, I have no reason to believe he'll pay me for the comic. What else should I do?

EDIT: Legal action would also cost more than the campaign made.

People keep asking you that question because it's obviously the wrong course if you ever hoped to be paid. This signals that you've given up hope on that and just want sick internet burns (which will also backfire). You're only validating the other party's desire to distance themselves from you.

I don't care if he distances himself from me. I don't want to be associated with Donal. I just want my money, and you and others have yet to actually address the actions he's done, like keep all the merch money (which he was paid MONTHLY from CryptoFashion), or not crediting me properly.

Perhaps sick burns on message boards and Youtube rants aren't the place to gather all the info necessary to pick a side in this sperg conflict? Why do you care what actions us anonymous randos address? How will that help you get paid?

Bruh I joined this thread in the first place because people kept smearing me saying I had screwed over Donal, and people kept spreading lies on twitter, so I started to clear my name. Why is it a bad thing to clear my name?

Nasser's stuck in a situation where apparently the retards who can't get their ass out of the CG shrine can't seem to understand that he's actually been fucked over. If people want to distance themselves from him, that's probably for the better because who would want people who look the other way for Donal and make it seem like Donal did nothing wrong?

If you've paid attention to Nasser's tone of voice when he's been addressing this, I think "sick internet burns" isn't what he's seeking, it's retribution. Being an early 20s young man with this much bullshit going on is taxing.

Funny you would be questioning Nasser about something that should be clear.

I thought the original premise of ComicsGate, which was rallied together by Zack's entire publishing deal being sabotaged as a smaller creator being bullied by a bigger creator is somehow not clicking with people who are acting like Nasser's a twat that this is a similar case, except much more personal. Ethan and everyone else dogpiled Nasser, this is very clear from the DMs he shared.

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would call it a "sick internet burn" when I call donal out on lies.

Donal: Neither of us were paid.

Me: No, Donal you were paid. You spent $2,200 on yourself and kept all the shirt and poster money.

"sIcK iNtErNeT bUrNs"

EDIT: funny typo

I don't doubt that you're owed I just don't understand the path you've chosen to collect. Maybe it'll work, who knows.

What's a bruh? Growing up a bit might go a long way.

Well, man, I don't have another path. I'll reiterate again: if he won't pay me a few bucks for the shirts and posters, why would he pay me thousands? He already showed that he doesn't think of me as the author (even though I am), so why would he pay me like I'm one?

I had to come out about this stuff to clear my name, because of all the slander, and I had to defend myself when he wouldn't credit me.

And this stuff needs to be brought to light. People who want to work with him in the future need to know about this stuff. If he gets away with it with me, he'll think he can get away with it for future collaborators too.

I honestly think @NasserRabadi13 should give up any hope of being paid for one simple reason, it's obvious that Donal has already spent the money. Donal quit working for Image during early 2018, Brutus was his first campaign and it raised $28,527 on October 2018 and then $39,051 while in demand. According to those leaked DM's Donal already spent $2200 on new computer equipment.

Donal's next paying gig was on Vestige which was funded in June of 2019, the profits of which would be split between Ro, Pan, Steve Dye and Gat Hanzo. It's highly unlikely Donal would receive a percentage and would've probably been paid a page rate, with a possible bonus. Donal's next paying gig was Cash Grab which was funded March 2020, I'm unsure about the arrangement with Cecil, whether they are splitting profits or if Donal is being paid a page rate.

My question is what has Donal been living off since he left Image? His Youtube can't make that much, he's merch sales might off set some of the costs of living. But from October 2018 to June 2019, what was he living off? From June 2019 to March 2020, what was he living off? Rent, food, gas, utilities, recreation, insurance all these things cost money.

He was paid $10,000 from Vestige.

His wife also has a day job so I'd imagine that would pay the bills.

I might do a video on the breakdown of expenses, but--

After igg fees we have $35,539.02
Donal told me it would be less than $4k for a colorer and letterer. Let's call it $4k. That's $31,539.02

Andrew Huerta did like 5 pages for $200 so that brings us to $30,539.02

Printing, let's call it $5k. $25,539.02

Trading cards, mailers, tape, etc. Let's call that $1000? $24,539.02

I don't remember if he paid someone for the trading card art, so if he did, let's call it $500. We'll overestimate some expenses.

$24,039.02

Shipping varies. I don't know (cuz he kicked me off) how many are international and how many are domestic and how many are only digital backers, but 1,293 backers (which again, some are digital and don't need something shipped), let's say that's just an average of $5 postage per backer (which again is an overestimate), that leaves us at $17,574,.02.

$17,574.02 divided in half is $8,787.01 for each of us.

I know that's all guessing and estimating but it's close enough.

In the comics industry typically the artist gets paid 2.5x the writers rate. Let's assume you expect to get paid $100 per page, the artist would make $250 per page to draw it.
You should have had a written contract with the artist/co-creator establishing pay rates and how to divide any revenue (royalties) the comic generates after everyone gets paid.
Typically how credit for the work is established is in the contract.
Taking zero pay and agreeing to a 50/50 split of all revenue was retarded of Donal to agree with in the first place.
It sounds like you expected to get paid the same as the artist which is not how any comic works and probably why Gilmore ditched you.
What part of every "anti-CG" person screaming from the rooftops "this is a fucking scam" did you not understand?
You got scammed. You were told it was a scam. And you didn't protect yourself legally with a written contract. You were cool with all of this when you were in Ethans good graces. You can say whatever you want now but sperging about it on kiwi farms ain't the way. I know you can't take an L on anything and you HAVE to win every argument, its part of your little kid mentality. So I expect you to give a long winded retort to this, only know that I don't care and I still think you're a retard.
You deserved to get scammed Donal wins, you lose. Learn from this mistake.

Well, man, our dms count as a verbal agreement and count as a contract. That's all I can really say to this. We agreed to split it and I just want what's owed to me.

EDIT: And I had never been told it was a scam, and I was never for anyone getting scammed. My other projects both delivered, and everyone got paid without a problem. I don't think anyone had the foresight at the time to know I would be scammed on Brutas. At least, nobody told me.

You could try suing him in small claims court. You don't need a lawyer for that. Filing fees are pretty low, but if you have to travel to where he is, there goes a lot of the money. And local judges/magistrates tend to be dicks. (Spend an afternoon in a traffic court if you don't believe me.)

Donal's trying to spin it as a betrayal to share DM's (with some support from WC.)

You're probably gonna have to chalk it up to experience. It's fine to vent online, but don't expect it to have much impact. He's always struck me a a douche, & you can't really shame a douche.

He says they're "out of context" but on the SWC stream we literally showed every single dm of the conversations and everyone saw context. None of that was out of context. And none of the dms here are out of context. I literally showed where Donal spent $2,200 of campaign money, and where he kept all the tshirt money and posters money.

The reason he says "I DON'T POST DMS" is because he has NOTHING to show that proves me wrong. If he did, he could post it. OR he could even explain the "real" context of the dms, but the real context is that he's a fraud thief liar.

Why are you bleating about t-shirts?
I assume they feature artwork that Donal drew of a character he created and asked you to write a story for?
Why on God's green earth would you be entitled to a slice of that? What exactly did you do to earn it?
You're clearly, judging from your last campaign, no salesman and judging from your short stories no writer either.

Have you paid attention at all? We had agreed on a 50-50 split for the shirts. For everything. All merchandise, books, whatever. And he never paid me for those. He's a thief.

Fun fact:
If Mark Millar comes true and Marvel/DC consolidate into less titles with top talent, it will be the SGMs and Warren Ellises that will be doing the books and be protected by the companies. Just getting a rando off the street to write a garbage squirell girl comic will not do, they will need top talent to helm those books and hit 100K+ sales. People like Zircher that can produce reliable work will be needed to pair up with superstar writers to keep the costs manageable (because, you won't have both Tom King and Greg Cappulo on the same book, you will have them into two books paired with journeymen)
Back in the Wizard days, these people could get away with many things because they were assets to be protected, until Gail Simone unfired herself via twitter.
When twitter finally implodes, the comicbook blogs will be gently reminded to STFU or they won't be getting review copies and vocal nobodies will find themselves blacklisted and will shut up and prop them up in order to maybe get a variant cover here and there.

Why do you think the meetoo knives are out for the boys, particularly the talented boys right now?
This isn't a 'broken staircase' scenario somuch as it's a metoo ladder.
Just you watch the Gail Simone's of this world step up to explain that the only way address the rampant sexism inherent in the industry is to put more women in charge adn ensure that 50% of those much reduced titles are given to female creators.
The industry hags are literally dragging up any flirtatious dm's they can find and meetoo'ing their way to the top.
