The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

When you forgot you can't go for the foreskin and the consolation price being to tear down the sewing thread with your teeths :(

Seriously, I want to go back to the early 2010s, to a time when things were decent.

I really fear we are living in the early stages of a real life apocalypse, there's just something seriously wrong with people these days.
don't worry it happens every 20s 1920 1820, don't sweat it too much shit just goes crazy
Holy shit, T1 just finished and is going on a RANT. This is like Jay at the end of dogma level ranting. Love it.
for context he means this:

Another streamer, tyler1, absolutely loathes everything about the game after finishing it. Huge rant going on right now, "worst game I've ever played in my life, 1/10, *long list of complaints*"

Also says that they better not ever make part 3. Good.

for context he means this:
It's bad when you realize that what Jay complains about in this movie... Looks pretty mild and milktoast compared to what we are subject to in 2020... What was considered batshit crazy back then is now almost the norm that wouldn't make you lift much of your shoulders.

Do you know the difference though?

The big, BIG difference?

Dan Houser's competent. As are the other two writers, Micheal Unsworth and Rupert Humphries. They likely built things in certain ways so things could be cut or moved around without fucking things up.

End of the day, RDR 2's a spaghetti Western, doesn't apologise for it, and doesn't rub in your face how fucking clever it's trying to be. It's a relatively dumb story told very very well.

Exactly. I was trying not to go on too long about it but he has become extremely good at what he does after damn near 20 years. Most writers in the field these days would never dream of cutting out and reworking their "art" but based on what we can piece together through scraps of cut content and interviews Dan saw elements of the story that didnt work and cut them out and then reworked it so at the very least it worked but quite possibly he made it much better.

I really wish we had some kind of documentary on RDR2 so we could have a clearer picture on what changed. Right now we have just a few interviews from the actors and one obscure interview with Dan I think. The rest is sort of guesswork based on snippets of data they didnt remove.

I get the feeling Dan got a lot of grief from Take 2 over his so called perfectionism over RDR2 and that might be why he is retiring which if true means we may never find out much more.

Time stamp vod, you get the lead in where he doubts it's the end. Hopes for after credits. Then the rant.

Just the fact this worthless cunt insisted on giving himself a "Directed By" credit tells you all you need to know about him.

Here's a question, what would a good sequel to The Last of Us have looked like?

I always imagined the conflict for a continuation of the story would be Ellie learning that Joel lied to her, that she could potentially lead to a cure and choosing whether to sacrifice herself and what to do about Joel potentially trying to stop her.

Since the first game had you looking for the Fireflies, maybe the sequel could be Ellie setting out to find the homebase of the remnants of the actual US government, hoping maybe they would have the proper expertise and equipment to make a cure, with Joel following behind trying to stop her.

That would be a way to put Joel into a more antagonistic role that would stay true to the story and wouldn't just be shitting on the character just because.

The ultimate conflict would come down to Ellie having to choose whether to kill Joel and sacrifice herself for the good of mankind.

Instead from what I understand the story has nothing to do with Ellie's immunity, correct?

I gotta admit guys, I've been thinking back to the first game and the impact the story and characters had on me and it's completely breaking my heart that it's lead to... this, instead of something worthwhile.

This truly is one of the greatest blunders in gaming history.
When the first second trailer dropped, I saw incredible potential, and knew immediately that they were going to waste it. It's a frankly Shakespearean tragedy they created, that the first known immunity to the plague, the potential Eve of a resurgent humanity, is a lesbian, and it's something that they could have run with. The first game was in many was a study of what is the "Us" in the title, and the tragedies that can come from having an answer that is either too narrow or too broad, and they could have continued in that theme. They could have made the game a deep dive into the ethics of homosexuality in a survival-of-the-species scenario, complete with an enemy faction operating under the credo of "if you aren't going to be responsible with the future of humanity, then we will do it for you", and it could have ended in the same way the first one did, with Ellie walking in Joel's footsteps, making the decision that made her happy, damn the consequences to humanity, and let the fans argue about it for years as they did last time. But at the same time, I knew that none of that was going to happen, because that would have required ND and Sony to release a game that dared to entertain the idea that being LGBTQUIABCWTF could ever be anything other than morally upright.

I'm currently playing 'Days Gone' on the PS4. I get the distinct impression that this game, for all its faults, is a better game than TLOU2. It might not be as intense or complex but it seems more human this what's on offer here.
That's because Days Gone was made to be a game first instead of agenda pushing trash. Better hope Sony don't give it a sequel.

I liked the point he made about Joel and Tommy and his wife being a group of survivor that learned to survive out there for about at least 20 to 30 years and you would think all that experience would led them to not trust and welcome a group of 10 + people in their homes, i'd even add :

Let alone rescue them, fine you can rescue them but instead of trusting them right away "normal" joel and tommy would have also ambushed them by pointing their weapons at them to disarm every single one of them and interrogate them at the very least, and it would still going the "passive" peacefull way of doing it in that world, even if the group would lie to get out of that situation. You just don't let yourself outnumbered by armed complete strangers even after you saved their lives. Not even checking everyone at gunpoint if anyone's bitten, infected, etc.

ESPECIALLY after 20 / 30+ years of experience surviving outside / in that world, the last of us world is so unforgiving and dangerous, obviously this group has learnt to be exceedingly careful all this time, not only you build more experience overtime but by aging anyone gets more defensive / wary too for their own good / survival. This is retarded.

And yes, the best part of the game was the few flashbacks with the chemistry of Joel / Ellie, cracking jokes as usual.
