Yeah, let's do it, it will get us closer to a real meritocracy. Might be a good idea to take the gender question off of applications too, and just use SSNs or something instead of names so that there isn't any clue to what race/gender someone is to cloud the judgement of whoever's hiring, just have stuff about job experience since that's all that really matters.
Speaking of issues with affirmative action programs, I have learned that SAT scoring is based on racist as hell stereotyping. Black and hispanic people are given bonuses, white people just get whatever score they earned, and Asians are given a penalty and have to score higher than everybody else. A black person scoring 1000, a white person with 1300 and an Asian student with 1450 are all considered to have the same score. For some reason that's considered a progressive line of thinking and I don't get why. Maybe I'm just missing something, but to me it just seems so racist to think black or hispanic people can't possibly score as high as a white person, that white people are some kind of 'default', and the whole "Asians are all super-geniuses" stereotype is harmful too. If anything, shouldn't bonuses be based on wealth since that's what determines the quality of public education you get?
