Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Anybody got any good articles or videos of some kind that can help me persuade my girlfriends Doomer mother to let her out of the house?

She's been a real bitch about keeping her at home.
Here are three academic studies basically saying the estimate of Infection Lethality Rate is lower than what the Journos and Bureaucrats "scientists" are reporting all over the news.

0.66% estimate from British epidemiologists examining ChiCom numbers
(Archived)
0.37% estimate from an anti-body study in Germany
(Archived)
Raw study in German
0.17% estimate based on an antibody study in California

Some people have better graphics of risk factors by age/health, but these are the three I have been stuffing down peoples throats since May. AFAIK there haven't been any conflicting studies published since, though more confirming a 0.3% - 0.4% IFR.

This doesn't take into account symptoms of COVID (InB4 Troon Doodger claims your eyes explode out your ears) but its widely agreed that most cases of COVID are either asymptomatic or mild, and that serious symptoms are less common while the crazy symptoms are extremely rare/statistically insignificant.

LOLWUT!

In just one year we've lost so much freedoms we used to have.
There's that, and the current recession that could potentially turn into a depression the longer people go jobless.

People can roll their eyes at "the economy!", but shit will get real if you need a wheelbarrow of money for a loaf of bread.

I apprecate it, but I was hoping for some CNN bullshit article or some-such to calm her down. She watches that shit religiously. These articles could easily steer her in the wrong direction.

Emergencies are rare now. No ops anymore so rudimentary trip planning reduces the likelihood of emergencies and, therefore, the need to carry a tracker. I do agree Tracphone is the best one to carry if you must carry one though, as long as you can remove the battery. If your family is sick or the likelihood of unexpected need is higher than normal. It’s getting tougher because they are now trying to ban cash.

Don't believe a cash ban will happen.

These days, I can't help but feel paranoid that people will push for more lockdowns during new flu seasons.

I'm not trying to downplay how deadly a flu can be, I just fear the overzealous governors "protecting" us from now on.

Believe they'll have a very difficult time in the future trying to put their states on house arrest. Please take a look at the story from The Intercept I posted earlier today.

@JosephStalin Two days ago my employer (here's some deets) started requiring that every employee who travels out of their immediate vicinity--for business or personal reasons--needs to fill out a form to submit to HR Karen and some other corporate stooge. I'm trying to get in touch with my lawyer to see if I could oppose this bullshit rule on right-to-privacy grounds, but if they're going to play the "it's a private company!" loophole or make my employment contingent on contact tracing or getting GatesVaxx, then I'm going to quit.

No notice.

I'm not going to lay down and let all of civilized society brand me like an ox because of a chest cold. I'd rather die (and I'm sure they'll oblige because they label us as grannykillers for doing so).

No sweat. Just submit a false form or no form at all when traveling for personal reasons. They don't deserve the truth.

The only catch is that you could be fired if caught as it is standard SOP for companies to require truth in forms which loss of employment being the usual course for creating false company records.
Usually they do this so they don’t end up with a Firestone fiasco but the Karens like to expand it to everything (probably taking revenge on a cheating boyfriend , IMO).

Just know the pitfalls. Typically nobody will care and have the time to determine if you lied but all it takes is one pissed off Karen or a blabby coworker to ruin you.

This is a downside to falsifying records.
Just make sure you go into this with your eyes wide open.

Likely difficult for them to prove you were anywhere when not at work. Don't believe it's legal to require such a form for travel for personal reasons.

Does anyone still think the Virus was anything other than a deliberate attempt to shut down the US economy?

The lockdowns, the riots, the everything else - it's really been weighing on me. We went from stable government to complete fucking mess in the US overnight. US debt has climbed to over $26T - our nominal GDP is $20T - and there's a real chance the currency is going to be devalued. The United Nations cancelled it's September meeting for the first time in 75 years and the UNHRC is screaming about Antifa / law enforcement outcomes for African Americans despite only 20 Blacks dying since the riots started.

And now the World Economic Forum is calling for the Great Reset. One of the proposals is having the EU give 4% of GDP to fight coronavirus, which really means transfer wealth to poorer countries under a multinational flag.

I could go on about 1300 CEOs resigning last year, the sanctions on China, and a whole lot more... but it feels like there's been an ongoing ideological subversion campaign.

Starting to lose faith in the future. This wasn't a virus, this was an attempt to destabilize the world order that's existed since WWII. And the elites - they are a bunch of fuckers who cannot be trusted. They're going to throw the world into madness.

No.
I'm going with Hanlon's Razor. Never attribute to malice that which would be better explained by stupidity.

The ChiComs didn't intentionally unleash a bioweapon. They most likely goofed with shitty lab protocols and someone got infected and took their infection to a wet market.

When the Lockdowns first came into action (in the US at least) the reason given was to allow hospitals to shore up their logistics and get the spaces and supplies ready for the wave of hospitalizations, and at the time the decision was made the best available information was that this thing had a 2-3% lethality rate.

Well then we started seeing unintended consequences of the lockdown (economic recession, hospitals going out of business, food shortage scares, etc.) while new information came out that this thing was not as lethal as first thought (0.2-0.4%). However, instead of saying "hey we were wrong, sorry about killing your business for 2 weeks, my bad" elected officials doubled-down and extended the lockdowns because they think they know what's best for you.

Are some leftist bureaucrat grifters seizing the opportunity to try and tank the US economy? Yeah sure, its a very real possibility - but this did not start as some devious global plot to own the Yanquis.

It's not a global plot, it's a Chinese plot to cripple the world economy along with their own, since they were already pozzed and going down. Remember the WHO in January? No human to human transmission? Wonder who the WHO answers to?

I see room for both points of view. The Chinese may not have intentionally let the virus loose out of the lab, but believe they created it. But it's very hard not to think the Chinese didn't allow millions of possibly-infected people to go from Wuhan all over the country, and thousands of possibly-infected people go from China all over the world. And I would bet Chinese numbers of cases and deaths have been vastly understated. My guess - multiples of what we have in the USA. Am sure there are people in Washington who have the correct information but are keeping that information highly compartmented for now.

The governors of the states that put their people on house arrest didn't seem to use a lick of common sense. Two weeks, then quarantine hot spots/buffers and let everyone else go back to work/school/etc., using precautions. Doesn't take a mental giant to figure this out. But NONE of the governors did this. EVERY ONE went straight to the one-size-fits-all statewide house arrest power trip. Some of them went full Nazi, such as Whitmer, Cuomo, and Newsom.

But none of these stupid fucks seemed to realize that placing the state under house arrest means - tax revenues take a dive! Then they start begging Washington for bailouts! That's like killing your parents and asking the judge for mercy because you are an orphan. No, not a penny.

People were already skeptical about these house arrests. Now their skepticism has turned into distrust and disbelief due to the blessing given to "protesters" nationwide to carry out their protests without any regard for masks, "social distancing", etc. "They have to exercise their First Amendment right to protest!" But not long ago peaceful protesters in Raleigh, NC were told by the police "Protest is not essential". Could it be because the protesters in Raleigh were primarily white, but the "protesters" running wild these days are mainly black? The Bill of Rights applies to every American, regardless of color. But those of all colors and faiths merely wanting to go to their place of worship to worship have been targeted by government and law enforcement. Sorry, you can't gather in church! Really, motherfuckers? The right to worship is as much a part of the First Amendment as the right to protest. The implied and expressed double standard has cost government at the state/county/local levels all credibility. This doesn't augur well for the future, not at all. There will be calamities in the future where the government asks for cooperation, but due to this people may not cooperate at all or do only what they feel like doing - IF they believe what the government says in the first place. We've also seen the death of the credibility of the mainstream media, with their 24/7 fearmongering, and the WHO, now a wholly owned subsidiary of China.

Economically, we've seen the results. As these house arrests loosen up more people are going back to work. See much more traffic on the roads. Recovery has started and will proceed, but will take a while to get back to pre-Chinese flu levels. Remains to be seen just how much Chinese saies of various things in the USA will decline, and how many foreign manufacturers in China pull up stakes and leave.

Far as the impact of providing the various types of stimulus money goes, have several thoughts. First, we are so far in national debt that adding some more doesn't really matter. But I know of other countries, such as Japan, whose national debt is 250% of their very large GDP and climbing. How do they do it? Easy - the Bank of Japan has been buying ALL Japanese Government debt, been doing it for some years now. And like the US national debt, the Japanese national debt is almost entirely in their own money. Also remember the USA pissing away a like sum, plus the lives and health of thousands of Americans, on two wars in the Middle East since 2001 that have gotten us NOTHING good. Not. One. Fucking. Thing. Good. Have no problem spending what it takes to help Americans out for a change - God knows we've spent entirely too much helping people who not only don't appreciate it, but hate us.

Bottom lines - impact on US overall health will be minimal. Most who have died of this disease have been elderly with other health issues. More Americans die in one month of cancer/heart problems than have died, until very recently, of the Chinese flu. There will be a vaccine in due course. Will have to be changed yearly to accommodate mutations, just like the "regular" flu. Economic impact greater, but recovery likely. The loss of trust and credibility by the people in their government and law enforcement will take a very long time, if at all, recovering. And the onus is on government and law enforcement to get back into the public's good graces, not the other way around.

Surprisingly, not legal for government is much narrower than for private enterprise. Take free speech, for example.

Like I said, it is unlikely that every form will be checked for veracity but remember, enforcement is selective and if you carry a company phone, forget it. A lot of your privacy rights are surrendered. Just look at the fine print.

The risk is low, mostly inexistent if you hide your power level.

The problem is that doing this basically requires the population to continue to grow so you don't default on the interest payments, that is why japenease culture is sort of freaking out about young men not getting married.

Oh, that the Chinks released this on purpose is not a question. That the West fell for it by not treating them as enemies is also not in question.

What most people should realize is that our scientists should have seen through this ruse in a timely enough manner to avoid the disaster.
They had TDS in the brain though and no price was too great to slay the latest Hitler incarnation.

This kinda showcased how overwhelmed Drumpf is by the swamp.

Now with Niggmageddon, the very people he would rely on (the praetoria guard) demonstrate that it is the deepest portion of the swamp. See how feeble he appears when his generals outright contradict him. Old. Trump would have ass-raped Esper for saying what he did. Instead, he is allowed to spread perfidy so that the I her military faggots join the condemnation choir.

Far worse than that, the population is not just aging rapidly, but as of 2010 actually shrinking. Japan's median age is 48. Ours is 38. Many people have money in the Japanese Post Bank, and sooner or later they are going to want that money. Believe the bank will need to sell Japanese Government bonds to fund the outflow of deposits. Just a matter of when, not if the shit is going to hit the fan there.
