The warlord Raz and his ambiguous relationship with the city government of Seattle (who once gave him $83,250 towards the construction of a recording studio, and who seem to be allowing him carte blanche in the CHAZ) reminds me of a plot point in season 6 of the French cop show Engrenages (Spiral to English viewers) .
The Camara brothers are black Africans, living in Paris, who have risen above their criminal pasts to become community leaders, supported by a corrupt mayor who is using them to bolster her support among the disenfranchised immigrant population. The problem is that the brothers haven't completely cut ties with their underworld past. Drissa Camara, like Raz, is a smart guy, with drive and practical intelligence. In Spiral the alliance between the streets and the corridors of power does not end well for anyone, and I suspect that, in real-world Seattle, life will imitate art.

Over 80 grand grant from the city to pursue your music career? Gee, that seems a little... privileged to me.
As much as people who are against this bullshit push stuff like the recent murder, passing out of weapons, and border patrolling, it's obvious that the crime of choice in CHAZ is, unsurprisingly for a bunch of anarcho-commies, theft.
How many accounts have flooded in from starry eyed idealists in the zone of anything they didn't nail down getting stolen from them? And how many of the replies have been defending the thieves with suggestions that they were marginalized or needed it more or it was an "impromptu donation"?
These people love theft. They love stealing shit on basic principle, except when it happens to them. Some of them may be against violence, against guns, against whatever other shit is going down in CHAZ, but the love of theft is an extremely widespread constant. That's what you get when you have a large group of people who don't believe in property rights, and also don't believe in state control of resources (AKA-the only type of communism that's ever sort-of worked).
CHAZ relies on outside support and most of the masses in there are just drifter activists who didn't bring in anything worth stealing. They can't run functioning businesses or gardens and anything not carefully guarded will get stolen. Obviously this doesn't resemble a self sufficient country in any way, shape or form, which is why the powers that be are so comfy enabling and indulging it. They know they can pull the rug out and get rid of it in a single day if it were to become actually politically threatening or just look like it might be on the path to being a threat in the future. This isn't a revolution, it's a Hooverville full of dependents.

Goodness. If I were a "bootlicker" I might suggest that sometimes force needs to be used in times of emergency, because sometimes people don't do what you tell them to even when you really need them to.

Id find it kind of interesting if they had designated (more isolated) zones like this with cameras all over it so anyone could just check in to see what sort of brilliant system of government the zone has come up with that week. That video of Raz begging the ambulance to come inside the zone is gonna wake up people to the thought that EMTs won't go into certain places and situations without police escort. I wonder how long it's gonna take for leftists to shift the narrative to giving emergency responders weapons training so they can secure a site themselves without the cops. Once that happens, we're one step closer to the Cyberpunk future.

None of these people have any understanding what really goes on. Crime isn't just some guy using fake money or sleeping in his car while in the drive-thru lane, but people who do terrible things to other people for no reason other than to do them. And the idea that mental help resources should be used when many people have personality disorders that a mental health system can't do anything but try to maintain the status quo on---
The blood, the violence, the loss of life, and if there are no police to enforce the law, then what good is the law? You'd think people would be more worried about Right Wing Death Squads marching through the streets genociding all the non-whites. Because those guys exist, don't they? - Raz is loaded as fuck and owns multiple properties, a Tesla Model S, a BMW, a Jaguar XJ, numerous guns, etc.
- He owns a smoke shop on the corner of 99 and Northgate, and has been witnessed near a strip club across the street where there are allegedly underage prostitutes being pimped on the street outside.
- Police attempted a sting operation at this particular strip club, but ended up caught in an imbroglio themselves.
- Company providing the strip club's ATM is apparently MetaBank.
- MetaBank was involved in the stimulus distribution process.
- MetaBank linked to a nonprofit with ties to the Clintons.
What's really going on here?
