I'm inclined to believe Seattle PD's account on this one. We know for a fact that there are gunshot locating microphones strategically placed around the city. Even if there's no witnesses to a shooting, the police immediately have a general idea of what block it happened, how many shots were fired, and if it sounded like rifle or pistol fire. To my understanding, the audio is analyzed by a computer and just spits out results. They may use audio technicians to verify the results though.
To be fair, I've not seen a ton of misinformation about Seattle, short of people posting the based Raz warlord shit. It's nasty as fuck down there right now, but it's not exactly the Haitian battleground some people are painting it to be. During the day, it's a bunch of hipsters and people looking to party. At night, the freaks come out, as with any normal night in Seattle. That being said, I'm watching some of my friends get redpilled, but not all of them. The local punk scene, anti-authority music scene is getting red pilled, hard. That's mostly due to the major media and corporations backing the movement, and they're generally bright enough to know that they probably shouldn't be supporting a corporate sponsored revolution. They also recognize that communism is the opposite side of the coin as fascism, and they see both sides competing for who wants to be king. On the other hand, my co workers are generally pretty retarded, and they are all convinced that it's a giant peaceful and productive commune down there. They hear Tucker Carlson calling someone a warlord, and they drive through the area at 9 in the morning and don't see anything wild, so they laugh their ass off and call the whole thing bullshit. It also doesn't help that the politicians they voted for are telling them that it's no big deal, or in Inslee's case, that it's not even happening. If you can't link a KOMO or CNN article to them, they don't think it could have happened. They're constantly blaming the cops, but refuse to believe that the politicians that have been running the city for 80 years have any hand in it, and I'd bet that a shitload of the problem politicians in WA will see another term.

Pure retardation. The Geneva Convention does not apply to municipal government law enforcement. That isn't how it works. Tear gas isn't banned in war because it is seen as particularly bad, but as part of a general ban on chemical weapons. It's part of the set of gentleman's rules that apply in war. It is only bad in war because it is banned, unlike nerve gas, mustard gas, biological agents, etc., which are inherently bad.
Part of why tear gas was used in wars, like the trench warfare of World War I, was to flush out trenches so you could then kill the blinded, helpless soldiers. This wasn't specifically prohibited by the Hague Convention from the 19th Century so the belligerents felt it was okay to do. In general, police do not use tear gas as part of a way of murdering massive numbers of people, but instead, of dispersing them so they go away and stop doing whatever it is they want to stop. Sometimes, this is First Amendment protected activity and that is bad, but it is not a "war crime" because it has nothing to do with a war.
These laws have nothing whatsoever to do with domestic law enforcement, which has a different set of priorities and purposes.
