But, I can't tell you if they are American or not. It could be a black person visiting from France which would make them African-French.

But, there is African-American culture. Just as I'm sure there is African-British culture or African-Canadian culture. And those would be distinctly different than African culture. And if there is African-American culture, there is White-American culture, too (or European-American, if you prefer). I'm not really a fan of the hyphenated stuff, though. We're all Americans. The exact make up of ethnicity doesn't really matter since we should be uniting together as Americans instead of trying to find 9000 different ways to label ourselves.

I think there was a push to get a black stripe added to the original rainbow pride flag in the early 1990's as a response to the AIDS crisis. The early 90's was when the initial AIDS crisis of the 1980's had more or less hit its peak and it's when you had the deaths of several high-profile celebrities like Freddie Mercury and Tom Fogerty (the latter of whom was straight, btw) as well as events like the AIDS Quilt in Washington DC and the movie version of And The Band Played On

It was kind of forgotten by the mid-late 90's since infection rates were actually entering a sharp decline thanks to condoms being adapted en masse and thanks to new drugs, a lot of people who did get infected with HIV in the late 80's and early 90's were no longer developing full-blown AIDS and were living longer.

It's one of the defining moments that Nancy Pelosi gets to tout as what made her so anti-gun; because she was there in attendence and witnessed it.

Dan White shot and killed both in their offices at City Hall, not in public. Neither Nancy or Dianne were present. He resigned from the Board of Supervisors because he was struggling financially but was unable to return to his old job of firefighter so he went to ask for his job back as supervisor (at least that's what he claimed at the trial). Dianne Feinstein was President of the Board of Supervisors, which was to be her last political office as she was retiring after having four runs for mayor and lost big every time. Her second husband, a wealthy Jewish doctor, had financially indulged her political career.

Dianne and Dan were allies on the board, being the two most conservative members. Everyone suspected she egged Dan on or had a hand in it, especially after Dan walked on that crazy "Twinkies made me do it" defense (Feinstein's first husband was a Municipal Court judge and remained one long after she became mayor).
