Schools closed in Florida (& many other states) around mid-March, so the timeline of Zach's "bad cold" post lines up.
Indulge me for a moment, if you will. I've been a giant Corona-chan doomerfag from the start, going so far as to warn all of my family members in healthcare in late January, & taking Dear Leader's (PBUH) advice & buying a respirator mask back in early February. But there's no way I can compete with Zach's big community college brain! He tried to warn us all! Let's take a look.

Keep this in mind when Zach talks about how distraught he is. He doesn't care about anyone or anything but himself unless it's a) trendy to do so, or b) directly impacts his self-indulgent deadbeat lifestyle.

Zach had been banking on Heather being able to support him financially at least through his bachelor's degree being finished. After that, I always figured it was even odds that he'd bail and try to go to any grad school that would pay him a garbage-level stipend to do Rhys McKinnon-level "work" in academia.
It's no wonder he's reeling in spite of his overwhelming narcissism. This absolutely destroys his plan to get educated enough to have some kind of job he might not think was totally insulting to his intelligence to take. His associate's degree will not be particularly helpful. The only school he can reasonably transfer to, the one his community college's credits were directly applicable to, is there. So he's trapped if he wants to finish it up, and if he doesn't, he's wasted years.
Zach's utter worthlessness as a partner is going to be excruciating to watch in the coming months. He's not going to be willing to give up an ounce of degenerate leisure time. He's not going to learn to drive to be able to take Heather to her appointments. Whoops, guess maybe relying on one person to do literally 100% of the driving, an essential daily task in central Florida, was fucking stupid. All Zach's learned helplessness is coming home to roost, and that is amazing.
It's the kind of crucible that would make or break a normal man. And Zach's a man, but he's sure as shit not normal. This is going to be spectacular.

Wow Wow Wow. Just after Heather had a CVA Zach didn't ask questions such as what are the name of her sons or her mom, but ask her what is the name of the president, knowing that she'll have an "appropriate emotional reaction"? I hope Heather leave him something nice in her will!
Heather's mom probably wants to avoid Zach because Zach used to rile her up with bad political takes.
I'd just chalk it up to plain obesity and unhealthy diet. Common diseases are commoner.

I will never goddamn forget when the EMTs asked my grandma that question and she said "I think it's John Kennedy. What a nice young man." Kennedy hadn't been president for over 30 years by then. I was just a kid but I felt like my stomach had dropped out of my body when hearing her say that, even though she was very pleasant and responsive it just made it so clear that vital parts of her were gone.
I'm glad Heather's gotten to have some coherent conversations with her kids. Even if things go downhill from here, they will be glad to have had a chance to talk to her and tell her they love her, and not have "blue lips on the bathroom floor" be their final recollection.
Poor kids, the level of uncertainty they're living with is vast. They literally don't know if they'll be living in the US in a few months' time. TBH, they should be considering sending the kids to Norway for the summer even though they didn't originally plan to due to 'rona. It's their usual summer thing and will definitely be more normal feeling than mom on neuro rehab.

Zach can't drive and has no friends, so even though the kids are old enough (whether it's a good idea given what they're going through right now is a different question) to be home by themselves for at least part of the day, he very likely had to wait on his mother-in-law to be able to pick him up and drive him there:
Probably about half an hour for each leg of the trip, what fun!
Uber guesstimates they'd want $15ish each way, and they don't take payment in used dildos, so MIL-Taxi it is. MIL's in her early 60s so she may still be working, and given Heather's excellent financial literacy, MIL may be just as paycheck-to-paycheck, so if she can't get FMLA for whatever reason... the MIL Taxi gets there when it gets there. 12:27 seems like about the right departure time for someone to have taken a lunch break at noon to ferry their useless troon-in-law around.
I don't think the kids are going to visit Dad this summer, as I think it's a lot more likely that Heather's 16 year old son will get a driver's license and help care for her (and his little brother) than it is that Zach will, er, sack up.

Zero. Zach is lying. ICUs have severely restricted the number of visitors and have taken extreme precautions because of COVID-19.
I have extreme doubts on Zach’s interpretation of her condition as well.

Honestly, at this point they should be praying to all the gods they don't believe in that this IS covid-related, because IIRC treatment is all covered by Uncle Sam if you got the 'rona, but if it's just related to previous ill-health issues and she doesn't pop a positive test, they'll be on the hook for treatment. At this point she should be huffing other people's coughs just to put the government on the hook for what's sure to be a spectacular treatment bill.
Oh yeah, and I think since they're legally married, if they divorce because Heather's no longer able to finance his lifestyle, Zach will be on the hook for half of her debts. Gets better and better, the whole saga.
