I went into the tumblr tag and I'm seeing more and more posts coming out in favor of Abby, saying that Joel was a monster who had it coming and that Abby is actually a mirror of Ellie and a good girl who dindu nuffin. Most of these people who are saying this also happen to be lesbians who are salivating over Abby's body (ironic that they're lesbians and thirsting over someone who's more manly than most actual men) and are thinking more with their vaginas than with their brains.

Also a lot of people essentially saying what Druckmann's new account has been saying- that the game being excessively grimdark and violent is realistic and that wanting an at least somewhat happy ending or a heroic death for our beloved protagonists is being an entitled manbaby who doesn't realize that the apocalypse must mean pure misery for everyone all the time with no reprieve.

Are you fucking kidding me? This kid Abby met literally one day ago, whose only personality trait is being trans (and not understanding jokes) was enough to make her abandon Owen and start killing her own teammates. Do you know what this means?

1-Abby had zero second thoughts about popping Joel after he saved her life. Even if you hate joel, his death was insulting and pointless to the say the least.

2-ELLIE DID NOTHING WRONG. By the time they fight, Abby had already made herself a traitor to the wolves and got Isaac (her leader) killed, meaning ellie's kill count didnt matter. If ellie never got involved, Abby would either kill her own friends, be killed by them or run far away.

3-Abby had the opportunity to escape with Lev but instead she decided to hunt ellie to avenge the people she betrayed for lev, while putting lev in risk. This choice actually leads to Ellie saving abby's life!

In other words, Abby did everything wrong AND got away with it! Her revenge was totally worth it while ellie lost everything for nothing! Bravo druckman, your attempt to "redeem" abby made her completely irredemable!

Also Ellie spares her in the end, despite it being completely out-of-character and despite Ellie murdering hundreds to get to her.

This shit's fascinating. It's like I can actually see the negative space where zero fucks were given.

If they actually turned this into a movie, it would have been better. You weren’t playing her to like her, you were playing her to see her perspective, what made her do it, what drives her to do so, I understood where she came from and thats the point, you don’t have to like her more than Joel and Ellie, I mean she killed Joel, that alone means nothing they will do will make people like her, but at least you understand her motive, also her moving on is important for Ellie and Joel story. Ellie couldn’t forgive Joel, so she forgave Abby, it’s too deep for little minds. Also Abby is waaaaaaaaaay more fun to play than both Ellie and Joel. That’s just it.

Ellie couldn’t forgive Joel? That’s just your opinion, same as how you think playing as Abby is more fun. Another way to interpret her ending flashback is that of remorse, the last time she actually talked to Joel was to tell him how she thinks he’s an asshole. And what made Ellie stopping Abby from drowning by being baptized (great symbolism, Druckmann you absolute hack), was the fact that despite Joel being dead, killing Abby doesn’t solve anything and won’t bring Joel back. Ellie had this great realization that everything she did was for absolutely nothing.

They were trying to find a cure as in a vaccine to make themselves immune to it like Ellie, and it doesn’t matter if they wanted to retcon it, they can, cuz it made more sense than scientists just killing all the immune, it’s so stupid, especially when the story revolves around her being the chosen one, so if anything that’s terrible writing in the first game, thankfully it was only put in paper (that is assuming what you said is true). Imagine playing the whole game just to find out she was just another girl, they seemed so sure of it, and they said results were very promising, and Ellie wanted it to happen anyways, even Joel said “the only catch is that it would have killed you”.

Besides, have you actually read the files in the first game, specially in the hospital? The Fireflies has several immune children, but every single time they botched the operation, killed the patient and didn’t gain any valuable information about this kind of mutation.
It’s almost as if removing a fungus infested brain would also destroy any kind of knowledge on how it functions.
But Dr. Steroid might be lucky this time! The 25th time‘s the charm, right?

Not to defend Druckmann, but having not played the game, the only thing I can find is the Surgeon's Recorder. Which indicates they've experimented on infected in the past, but doesn't seem like it's intended to indicate they've experimented on the immune in the past. Though it's still nonsense that they're jumping to killing Ellie as they seem to be assuming that the infection is what's different, not that something non-obvious is different about Ellie. To say nothing of the fact that Ellie appears to have been unconscious from the time she arrived, so they haven't even questioned her if she knows anything that might explain her immunity, or if her immunity has resisted other exposures not just the initial one they know of. Not to mention they haven't obtained her consent to kill her in the name of science. Which she couldn't reasonable give anyways seeing as she's a kid.

Edit: Oh, and a final random thought before going to sleep. I wonder if all the people saying Joel was in the wrong for killing the Fireflies to save Ellie from being murdered via brain removal, would be saying the same thing if the Fireflies' intended course of action was to breed Ellie to see if her children were similarly immune?

The only character I cared about was Snake in all of his career making games. I don’t care about any of the characters in MGS5 and that boring simulator. All I can remember about the last of us, the first one, is that part with the giraffe. Kojima has given us some of the most iconic moments in video games: The Boss speach at the end of Snake Eater, Raiden fighting Solidus in Sons of Liberty, the final battle between the brothers in Guns of the patriots, etc. Kojima is a great writer that can integrate fantastic elements with a realistic narrative. He creates cool and interesting characters: The Boss, Volgin, Solidus, Ocelot, Eva, Quiet, the Cobra Unit, Liquid, Merryl, Fortune, the characters in The Last of Us all are generic assholes.
