I guess technically we should take this to PM but why do TV shows hate freak of the week as a format? Hannibal was best when it was Will catching a different weird killer every week and Hannibal secretly manipulating him in the background. X files, Fringe, Supernatural, I actually can't name a show that dropped freak of the week in favor of some over arching meta narrative and ended up better instead of worse.

I have a lot to say about Hannibal, but basically just watch Season 1 and a bit of 2/3 but it just becomes Western Fujoshi eventually.

He made it look good and ignored any bad parts of the story or game. He did the usual contrarian thing he always does, so that means he's right in the eyes of his fans.
He praises it for literally everything it tries to do and makes a point of doing it only to specifically go against the game's critics.
The game doesn't even really have any gameplay he could really use to shit on, like trying to ride the bike in death stranding up a steep cliff or clipping the stair climbing in FF7, anyway.

I figured the reason Lev's transgender identity was so vague so that it would sell better overseas. That way in the chink dub they can handwave it as "oh no, she's just pretending to be a boy so she doesn't get Epstein'd".

It's a totally understandable reason to pretend to be a boy. I doubt there is much use in being stunning and brave in a post-apocalyptic world. It's not like Lev can cry on tumblr about how mom won't respect his pronouns. There's no one to gush over his "totally feeling like a boi" selfies either. So one would either have to have true dysphoria (which doesn't seem to be the case here) or have some valid reason to need to disguise their gender.

The whole story is actually sad and I think that if properly developed Lev would be a far more sympathetic character than Abby. Maybe they should have 86'd Abby and focused on Lev if they wanted some more current year diversity. At least he thinks it is abhorrent to kill a pregnant woman.

And since it's "totally transphobic so plz unfollow me" to even insinuate that you need to be dysphoric to be trans in the current year, Lev can declare himself a different gender every day if he wants to and it would be totally valid in the eyes of tumblrinas.

I don't really like the shoehorned woke in games these days. But Lev does have a way more sympathetic backstory than Abby. Abby is just a raging murder machine.

There needs to be another comparison added here.

From what I've heard, Rehydrated is intentionally leaving in certain bugs/glitches whatever specifically because its such a favorite of speedrunners and those bugs/glitches are involved in the most commonly used tricks.

TLOU2 fucking had to make a menu of cheat codes called accessibility options in order to make the game playable for certain people - you all know who I'm talking about.

I believe the 3DS version of OoT left many glitches in too. It's cool when devs leave in harmless glitches that are fun to use. No need to fix things that people enjoy using and don't break the game and make it unplayable.

I said this before and I'll say it again, most of those options will be used by people who are too lazy to learn how to press buttons. When I was a kid you got good. It took me over two decades to beat Zelda 2. I wasn't trying the whole time. But a few years ago I picked it back up and figured out if I tackled it strategicaly and thought of it more like Castlevania I could beat it. And I did. It wasn't even that hard. Just challenging. I got good without savestates on a real Nintendo console. It felt great. A win button like savestates would have torpedoed any feeling of victory.

You should only use cheats and glitches after beating the game legitamately. After that it's fun to play around or skip to your favorite parts. But a lot of these accessibility options are pure win buttons that will be mostly used by people who are not disabled.

I am terribly near sighted and often have trouble with subtitles being too small. So changing the background and text colors of the subtitles sounds really useful. I think you can change the size too.

Honestly, I would love to see what actual disabled gamers have to say about all this. What options are actually useful vs insulting. I think bogging down development with a ton of mostly useless options just takes away time from tweaking more important things. But I am going to guess what is more important to Naughty Dog is that journalists, women and true and honest girl gamers can easily get to that self insert dry ass pounding scene.

I suspect that Abby is, at least in part, a creator inset. The progressive elements who are responsible for this hobbled sequel are so blind to their own psychosis and inherent unlikeabilty, that they probably proudly regarded their bull in a china shop character as far more sympathetic than she is.

One of the reasons why self insert characters tend to be so bad is that the inserter is totally blind to their own faults. Cuckman self fellates like mad and is a pretentious twat. Abby is the perfect STRONKWYMYN and that's that. She is actually no different than the SJW misconception of how gruff, grizzled male protagonists are viewed. To them the only context is "masculine cismale man with male penis punches and shoots things with extreme misogyny". It's one of the big reasons why Tropes vs. Women was so awful.

Anita failed to provide context to the male protags she featured. She failed to compare and contrast with games where the majority of killed off characters were male, such as when you play as Jill in Resident Evil. You are absolutely poweless to save Kenneth and his death helps to further along how bad of a mess you have gotten yourself into. Richard is totally fucked no matter what you do. And he seems like such a likable guy. At least if playing as Jill in REmake he can go out a hero by trying to get some payback by that huge snake and also poisonous.

Remember that when Anita did Women in Refrigerators she actually never read any of the comics she talked about. A friend did that for her. So she essenially had no idea what the hell she was talking about and insulted comic book fans while simultaneously getting asspats by her idiotic fanbase.

Abby is supposed to be the flipped script of all these awful manpenis having grizzled males. But they essentally made what they hated here. Because she is just like their perception of those characters. A sociopathic violence mad rampaging pitbull who has no qualms about doind reprehensible things like nearly beating a pregnant woman to death. And remember, that is before a character we are supposed to refer to as male tells her to stop. We are expected to respect Lev's pronouns and consider him a boy.

So what do we get from that?

Female: Bad

Also, violence against lesbians by a supposed woman who looks like a roidbeest. Absolutely beautiful. Nothing horrifying there.

According to Gamstat, which is pretty accurate when it comes to determining the sales of PS4 exclusives, the game has sold about 4 million copies so far. Which makes it the fastest selling Sony game this generation, ahead of Spiderman. The thing that surprised me is that it's actually *gained* more players in Day 2 and Day 3 of its release than Spiderman. I assumed that the negative reaction online would impact the post-launch day sales, but that doesn't seem to have been the case.

There was some study i remember being posted a lot around 2016ish that showed at best only 3% of a games audience was influenced in any way by reviewers. Most consumers aren't looking at this shit on the internet, they just buy what they want and move on with their day.

The only good thing that's come out of this dumb game are the culture war chimp outs. From the dweebs screeching about how anyone that doesn't like the game is an alt right incel, to the spergs losing their shit over muh ess jay dubbayew agenda.

So the Mrs. and I have been going through the game and I've kept from telling her spoilers. I wasn't going to play it because of all the leaks but she demanded we rent it because she was a huge fan of the first one.

She was able to take everything until we got to Hillcrest and the game effectively forces you to kill the dogs brutally. We got to the hospital and once she heard the woman cry out "Bear, NO!" after you near decapitate one, she tuned out and flat out said she doesn't care about the game anymore and wtf were the writers thinking.

Also, biggest personal complaint so far is the pacing. The first game had a rather tight narrative that kept things moving well. Part 2 has horrendously long stretches were you begin asking yourself why hasn't the story progressed. The segment from the theater to the hospital can border on 4+ hours. Longer if you want to explore everything.

Tldr: the game is pretentious as all hell and is an excersise in depression and misery. It's like a high school edgy teen wrote the plot.
