Speaking of trannies one detail of the story I didn't learn until now is that Lev kills her/his mother. What underlying theme or message is there in a 13 year old troon murdering their parent who doesn't accept their troonery? Especially one that seemingly only wants to be a boy because she was going to be a child bride against her will, which is natural in a culture with strict gender roles.

Also their cult makes no goddamn sense. So some women become warriors and some are sold off to older men? They couldn't help but even try to make bad guys more woke?

Neil wanted the totally-not-christian evil cult to be inclusive and sexist at the same time. Lev wants to be a soldier instead of a wife so he shaves his head and "becomes a boy" but the seraphite already have a bunch of female soldiers without shaved heads so whats the point?! One of abby mini bosses is that hunched old lady! It's so useless that you can remove the trans part and achieve the same effect by saying Lev/Lily didnt want to marry someone they dont love (which is silly for a zombie apocalypse but still makes more sense).

I also want to point that after lev kills his mother, his sister is super okay with it and literally says "You did nothing wrong!" like their mother deserved to die. You should feel guilty about dead dogs but dead TERFs are totally fine!

Am I the only one that think Ellen is poorly written in this game? And I dont mean her actions, her overall dialogues is so uninteresting. She is just constantly apologizing, acting akward and "I dont know" this and that. The most I have seen emotion from her at the beginning of the game was getting made at strawman seth because of a "not-so-nice" word (kept vague enough so there isnt any chance to assume she is overreacting). Ellen just feels like a boring character now.

So, I've got a buddy who served over in the Middle East. He's seen some shit. I was talking to him about the game and he told me about how Joel's death scene really freaked him out because of how they kept focusing on the shotgun wound to his leg. He ended up telling me that one of his buddies ended up getting a similar wound and that the game's rendering of it was pretty much exactly what it looked (and moved) like and that he couldn't stop thinking about it. He's the kind of guy who can stomach all sorts of fucked up gory shit and loves it but this scene really fucked with him.

Listen, I don't mind gore in games, but if you're making it so excessively detailed and realistic that you give a hardass veteran Afghanistan flashbacks, you just might be going overboard.

I'd argue that spirituality still exists and is used to replace religion. Spirituality doesn't have any rules or community that religion demands, it's a great replacement for modern narcissists who just put some random exotic religious statue in their living room and call it a day (which ironically is far more demeaning to the non western religion they stole it from).

you know if they really wanted to push a "REVENGE IS BAD" plot, could've had Ellie kill Abby at the end, leave Lev alive. Fast forward two or three years, Ellie is happy in her lesbian house, knock on the door, it's Lev with a gun, credits.

just after seeing all these people on twitter crying "ELLIE SHOULD'VE GOT HER REVENGE" that would've been a much better way to drive the point home to those people instead of blue balling them.
