The switch in branding from an autonomous zone to a protest was the first thing they did that made sense, but to come back and double down on the idea that they have administrative authority (and thus responsibility) after several widely publicized violent incidents is beyond idiotic.
Between Medicaid and Medicare alone the US federal government spends more on healthcare than on military spending:
Hell, I'm betting that a double digit percentage of the military budget itself is on healthcare for service members. Then you've got healthcare covered for federal employees, the VA, and state healthcare coverage/programs on top of that.

My current problem with Trump's strategy is that while he talks a mean game, he hasn't been emphasizing enough in media that all Federal options are available while condemning states who refuse to use them, or emphasizing that he's exhausted all federal options himself. He did it once or twice, but it needs to be pounded into everyone's minds that it's up to the state to stop the violence.
By just tweeting "LAW AND ORDER" over and over again (little meaning beyond the first few times), it sort of makes him look weak.
Stuff like the Parks Police protecting monuments is an excellent move, but probably could have been done earlier to prevent damage to some of the monuments already done.
Honestly there must be a much bigger chess game going on in the background that the public doesn't know about.

What a lot of you might not understand is that "Whiteness" and "Blackness" exists on more than just the level of skin color. The left has this crypto-racial ideology they never outwardly state but Whiteness is just all the bad things in the world and Blackness is the good things.
When I took Black Studies, and boy that was an experience, you had them basically draw a table with the "White European worldview" and "African Black Worldview" or something roughly along those lines. Well, guess what fell under where on the table? Altruism, cooperation, matrilineal family lines, gender equality, SOCIALISM, etc. Whiteness as cold harsh wintery survival of the fittest, capitalism, warfare, etc etc. Feminists do the same thing with Male worldview and Female worldview, or did at once point.
To them Whiteness originates or derives from white heritage or skin but is an entire edifice of evil.
Most of you have a good grasp of this stuff of course but I don't think many of you realize just how deep and kooky this ideology goes, and like scientology, the deeper people fall the weirder the beliefs get, to the point where the real inner academic brainwork is completely looney tunes while the footsoldier doing their bidding may not personally believe the same scripture as the higher ups formulating the theory and doing the ideological groundwork do. An example of this is the outward rejection of science, specifically empiricism (and this was literally another thing associated with Whiteness on the above-mentioned sheet--intuition and tradition being the African worldview!) and science, to the point where they will reject the entire institution of science as a White institution that must be "decolonized," e.g., totally modified to destroy empiricism and the centuries-long work of (supposedly) white philosophers that privileged the "White" perspective. (So if you are a black man promoting this stuff you are still an embodiment of Whiteness).
I really need to make a big long effort post about it or something. Nobody had really revealed the entirety of the monster, and those that have seen it have underestimated it. The Sokal Hoax was sort of fun but that kind of stuff isn't actually delving into the ideology of these people at its most fundamental.

None of the heroes, be it Peter Boghossian or Alan Sokal or anyone else has really delved into their bullshit deep and publicly exposed the assumptions and mentality at the core of the social justice movement. I’ve been around for not the longest here, but a while, and have seen a lot of stupid things go on in this country. I think prior to this, the most egregious display of pure lunacy was with the circa Bush-era religious right - the fundamentalist Christians. But what I’m seeing now takes the cake, and I never imagined that would happen.
It used to be near-impossible to criticize that group, because you were politically and culturally just not allowed to, for reasons of timidity and sensitivity. All the while, the movement retained and gained political ground using that — able to handwave facts, data to the contrary, and even non-emotional takes. That’s certainly not how they are viewed now.
So on the one hand, that gives me hope for the eventual rejection of this iteration of pure lunacy too, although God knows how long that will take. But when I wonder what finally allowed effective criticism and the dismantling of the evangelical fundamentalist right, what cracked those political and cultural walls, I think it was 9/11.
When faced with such a terrible, horrible act in the name of fundamentalist religion (whether it was more politically or religiously motivated is moot by now), people like Dawkins and the New Atheists were emboldened to launch critical assaults on it in the following decade, and had the definitive event to point to in the face of the prevailing sensitivity.
So on the other hand, it worries me that it will only take another comparably lethal and tragic event enacted by who could be representative of the left, to really reverse the virulence and similar non-critical propagation of BLM and IDpol, and their political and cultural immunity from criticism.
Based on what we have seen, in this thread but well beyond it, I am entirely comfortable believing that those on the far left are capable and willing to perform such an act out of belief in the good of their cause. There are extremely similar to an evangelical, religious, fundamentalist militant, and are well equipped with the necessary dogma along with a confused (inverted, really) ethical orientation.
