See, one of my black (as in, born in Liberia, came to the country I live in when she was young with her parents who fled for political reasons) shared this on social media. Cue a bunch of middle class meedja graduates trying to educate her about racism and her deleting her SM accounts in disgust
She's one of the best and most decent human beings I know. She and I were talking about this earlier, and her choice to nuke from orbit her SM, and her take was "I am proud to be born in Liberia and I am proud to live in the country I live in. It makes me so sad that white people are not allowed to proud to be white in the same way I am allowed to be proud to be black".
It's been sad, actually, watch her have this realisation that these cunts don't care about her or black people or racism, not really. As she put it, she's just a pawn to them, and now her beliefs have strayed from what is considered the right opinion for a black person to have, she's seen as a persona non grata. She's such a good person, and has worked hard to get a good job, make a career and get an education. She's not only done okay, she's worked hard to thrive, and put in so much effort. And she's a fucking gem of a human being too. So to see her have this realisation, makes me sound lame, but I just wanna pour her a large, stiff drink, and commiserate with her

Its funny, it seems people who willingly (and legally) come to a country to improve their lives (though honest work) often support their host nation flaws and all even if they don't fully "assimilate". Second and third generation citizens of immigrants seem to fethisize their "heritage" and think the host's nation's culture is erasing their "Roots"
