with apologies to @The Last Stand and other well-known GTA fans on this site
feel free to either rate this dumb, autistic or late
GTA: San Andreas is a video game that’s very memorable for me, since I never had the chance to play the well-known classic games (with the exception of maybe GTA IV as soon as I went to high school) growing up. Like most parents, my mother didn’t really see the good things that came out of video games like this, though luckily she did understand the reasoning behind why this game was so controversial and fun at the same time.
From III to Vice City, those two were great on their own terms, and it’d help me appreciate the PS1 versions of the series a whole lot more. However, due to recent actions that have happened in the past month of this year, I have a suspicion that this famous video game would never have the same impact today as it was released back in 2004. If you thought The Last Of Us 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 would be the most talked about games of this year, with the former getting obliterated by both hilarious memes that compensate with the poor choice of characters and badly written-story, then GTA: San Andreas would triple this by making “cancel culture” go into full overload.
The reason why this game would get cancelled today is because of the following:
-C.J., Sweet and Ryder would instantly be looked at as backwards gangsta rap like stereotypes that would get mocked into oblivion
-Big Smoke and Ryder would be looked as awesome anti-heroes for sure, but so-called “gamers” would hate the fact that they’re black too because they are looked at as villains to their own community (Same goes for Jizzy P for being a pimp and all as well Kendl for not being a “strong black woman”)
-Cesar Vialpando would be looked at as bad Mexican gangster stereotype that would make MS-13 and Mexican cartels blush (Same thing with T-Bone Mendez and Catalina with her accent)
-Officer Tenpenny and Officer Pulaski would be hated as corrupt cops, while they’d feel sympathy for them because in their hearts they were just being told what to do to protect Los Santos. Meanwhile, they would unsurprisingly hate Mike Toreno because he’s white and charismatic while trying to help C.J. save Sweet, plus they’d hate Officer Hernandez for being Hispanic and a cop that’s not loyal to his community
-They would also hate Zero because he’s not a Chad and his toy plane mission is considered to be unnecessarily hard
-Wu-Zi-Mu would get unfairly criticized for being Asian and blind because it’s not being played by a white person or an Hispanic
-Ken Paul and Maccer would get trashed by “gamers” who try to dissect their white privilege, depsite the fact that they’re British, but Ken Rosenberg would get hated on less because he’s just another greedy music executive that tries to profit off of both C.J. and the Gurning Chimps’ music. (He’ll still try to get canceled because he’s Jewish, though).
-The Truth would get immediately canceled for telling The Truth, plus he would be looked at as an Alex Jones rip-off, and you can’t have that in today’s society
-Salvatore Leone would get canceled because of reasons mentioned for Wu-Zi-Mu and Ken Paul/Maccer, as well as being a poor Italian mob boss stereotype
-OG Loc would get praised because Tumblr artists and other LGBTQ+ individuals would say that he’s either bisexual or transgender, which would make blacks more furious since they hate those groups for acting as if they’re more of a victim than them
-Madd Dogg would get played out because he would just be another old, lame Ice Cube stereotype that would try to reach young people that are dealing with suicide and depression-like issues. Plus, they’d still dislike him because they’re questioning what he’s ever done for his own community besides rapping like he’s still in his 20’s.
If you have gotten this far, you’d realize that obviously I’m being an idiot and actually believing all this over, again, a 16 (16!!!) year-old game, is pure lunacy at best. However, considering our current timeline with radical-like protests and ridiculous anarchists trying to destroy historical artifacts and prospects, don’t be surprised when it starts affecting the minds of Generation Z and they go from praising this game to calling it overrated, and then telling us why this game should not be allowed to be played by the likes of young adults or for anyone for that matter.
And just think.... they will do the same thing if Rockstar decides to out of nowhere, give us GTA VI for the new generation. Just something to wonder about is all.
