There's no way to know what she would have been under different circumstances. There are people who had far more difficult upbringings/childhoods than chantal who went on to be productive members of society, maintaining employment, relationships, hobbies, etc. and that's not counting the ones who grew up and did great things with their lives. There are also people who were raised in ideal circumstances, who are/were just bad humans and went on to do terrible things that are completely at odds with the values with which they were raised. So it also stands to reason that there are people who were rotten to the core and had shitty upbringings, and those who excelled at life and had great upbringings. (additionally, there are many obese people who maintain employment, or are business owners, or community leaders who are food addicts but also productive members of society)

We don't know what Chantal's mother is really like, but we can infer that she was a self-centered brat who left her child to be raised by her mother and didn't claim her back for like a decade. Her father was absent and isn't really interested in her. Those aren't just bad circumstances, those are bad traits to inherit. Who knows what other goodies are in Chantal's makeup? And sometime people are just rotten.

Chantal is one of those people I believe are just rotten. Ok, so food was a crutch/show of love/neglect, and now she's an obese food addict. But there's nothing else too her, and that's where being rotten to the core and inherently self centered and self absorbed comes in. She's shitty to her friends, can't maintain real friendships except with peetz, can't maintain normal relationships where you share your life with your partner, eat meals together, talk, etc. She says cruel things about everyone who crosses her path, even in a video of her family eating pizza together, and people made nice comments about her sister, chantal randomly pinned a comment saying that if her sister seems anti-social, it's because she has a mental disability. Adults don't do things like that. And she didn't do it because her mom left her with her grandmother, she did it because she's a rotten, jealous person. Her upbringing didn't cause her to lie all the time, there are so many things you just can't blame her upbringing for, other than being fat. There's nothing specific in her upbringing that would make her so lazy, entitled and unable to maintain gainful employment (outside of youtube).

It's true that people can grow up at odds with their upbringing, but most of the time it's pretty straightforward.

I disagree with some of what you said, but I am biased towards a social engineering perspective. For example, could Chantal's experience of jealousy of her younget sister in her teens lead to behaviour as an adult that is jealous and petty especially of younger, cuter people and put other people down just because she can? I think so. I think her feelings towards her sister from when they grew up together is exactly why she pinned that comment. I think it is as simple and reactionary as "Mum liked Sis more than me, I resent that, complicated feelings towards a parent leads to Sis being blamed for the resentful feelings -> a commenter made a mean comment about Sis? I feel validated -> pin comment".

I absolutely believe there is a correlation between her lack of functional stable parental figure in childhood and her inability to maintain a longterm functional relationship in adulthood. As per my previous comment, I would put it at 1:1.

However I do agree with what you said about her crappy parents and how nature could have lead to her being a crappy person even with a better nurture situation. I didn't include it in my original post in order to stay on topic, but Chantal told the story of her mum being a teen and wanting a baby, getting one, and then when the shine wore off, leaving the kid with her mum/grandma to go do whatever. I can see a direct parallel between her mum's impulsive short-term planning and Chantal's own. In Chantal's defense she's only done it with fitness and diets rather than a baby.

On the other hand Chantal's mother (who I do not have a high opinion of: she buys Chantal pretty dresses but when Chantal was on the keto diet managed to fuck-up making keto fudge - firstly, why fudge? Also, is it harder to find an XXXXXXL dress that doesn't look like a circus tent over following a recipe?) who seems to share personality traits with Chantal manages to have a husband, functional seeming younger daughter and a nice home. Same with the babydaddy, as far as we can tell.

I put the blame at Chantal's feet as an adult, not doing therapy, not managing her impulses, not cleaning her apartment, etc. I think it's so incredibly rare to be born rotten nothing can help, and Chantal is so reactionary and follows such a tight pattern of behaviour I enjoy looking at the psychological underpinnings she reveals in her videos. But like I said, that's why I tune in.

So, she’s “exhausted“ from breaking down a cardboard box. Plus, did you catch her saying that she likes watching garbage tv because it gives her fevered mind a break? That’s right. She THINKS too much. She truly lives in her own delusional world. This Chantal, the self important, ego-driven, insufferable chantel will last until she realizes she can‘t walk.

Why have a salad if it’s gonna be 560 calories while also having a side of tortilla chips with a spinach-cheese dip....

That meal was atleast about 1500 calories...
The only bites that we saw on camera were of the chips....you just know that she literally did not care for the salad at all :hah:

I don’t think I’ve seen anybody put on weight so quickly and obviously in my life. Watching her is like watching somebody blow up floating pool animals with an industrial pump. One second you have a pile of wrinkled vinyl and the next you see a head that could be in the Macy’s Day parade.

I don't know about you gorls, but I don't even read the litany of shit she says she's going to do in her "I had an epiphany" posts she makes every time the tide changes. Chinny thinks saying something makes it magically happen, and she says the same shit every time. She "reinvents" herself in fantasy and leaves it at that. At this point in my sentinelhood of Chinny I just skim through the posts and look for emoji usage, because emojis and exclamation marks are a flawless weathervane for her anger. Everything else is just delusional and masturbatory and starts with "I".
