Okay, so I just finished watching the entire series. Here’s some of my thoughts and opinions:
  • Shadow Weaver was an interesting character that deserved a bit more screen time
  • Catra’s redemption should have started at the beginning of season four
  • Entrapta and Hordack had a better romance arc than Catra and Adora (there wasn’t nearly enough time devoted to what Catra meant to Adora and Catra still has too many issues by the end)
  • Seahawk should have been given more skills and ended up something like Bow. For instance, he could have been an expert shooter
  • Frosta was cute, but I think her imposing demeanor should have lasted a few episodes longer than just the introduction (especially since that kind of behavior isn’t super easy to shed with just the magic of friendship)
  • The way Catra acted after she got redeemed wasn’t that great. I get that they tried to make her a tortured soul, but the way it was written just made her come across as too whiny
  • Glimmer’s style change after season three was nice, but not as good as the redesign at the beginning of this thread
  • The villains overall were more interesting than the heroes
    • I like Horde Prime, but I think if he were introduced more near the beginning as a series of legends and people believing him to be a myth, it would have made the reveal much more interesting
      • Instead of Hordack giving the exposition, he could have vague memories of him, but due to being a legend, he doesn’t think the memories are real and assumes that he’s the most powerful (so when the portal opens up, it’s the first time Hordack truly knows Horde Prime is real)
      • It also would have made for an interesting power struggle
  • The “I love you” at the last episode between Catra and Adora felt too rushed, especially compared to the amount of episodes they were actively fighting each other
  • Unpopular opinion: I think that Shadow Weaver should have been given a redemption arc more than Catra (but that’s also because I think that Shadow Weaver was better written than Catra)
  • Minor nitpick: I feel like everyone on the show cried way too much. I get they want to show emotion, but you don’t always need tears to do it
I haven’t seen the original She-Ra, so I have nothing to compare it to. That said, I’d rate the series a 7.5/10. I think some plot lines should have been explored more. The series should have been 75 long instead for how much there is about the universe itself.

She made a comic book memoir thing and in it she talked about how she was essentially cucked by her girlfriend, who would eventually become her wife. The girlfriend still had a bunch of guys on the side while they were dating who she would text while she was literally in bed with Noelle, and there's even a part where she's fucking one of these guys and Noelle's out sleeping on the couch. It's honestly really sad. No wonder all of the romantic relationships on the show are FUBAR and all the men are written like limp-wristed buffoons.

Damn so her only reason for making this show was because she salty she let herself get cucked by her whore wife? That's hilarious.

When you combine this with how she says she based Catra and Adora on her and her wife, it becomes likely that Catradora is her deranged justification of why she needed to keep her wife around and give her another chance. That's pretty sad, she's been the victim of emotional abuse and married the woman who made her feel like garbage in those moments.

...And then she went on to romanticize, encourage, and parade around the same destructive behavior to the audience of her children's cartoon. :story:

Bisexual here, and a coworker of mine who watched the show insisted that I check it out. Said I'd like it.

I watched it.

Didn't like it.

I want an actual story. Not a stroke to my ego or a twisted forgiveness fantasy for someone who'd betray my trust.

Besides, isn't this the kind of thing these "progressives" are usually against? I've pretty much given up making sense of their tumblr logic, but this one is just...wow.

It’s getting to the point screening for applicants will be needed if you want to work on a cartoon.

Can't find the PDF of the memoir for free and like hell am I actually spending money on it, so here's a video of a guy discussing the memoir. He's a buddy of the Tanner Twins and they discuss the show a lot on twitter together. I timestamped the specific cucking part, but the whole memoir is a very stark look into Noelle's brain and explains so much about why she is the way that she is so I'd recommend watching the whole video. I don't like her work at all, but it makes you kind of worry about her mental state and feel bad for her.
