This is the problem. It’s a monoculture environment. Trump needs to break up some of these giants, not ditch 230. The problem is not too much hate/free speech, it’s too few huge corporate platforms. If there are multiple smaller ones, the problem largely resolved. No ecosystem which is so poor is stable.

all true, but these days I'm skeptical anyone wants anything outside of that bland monoculture. and without a certain level of general interest any new forum won't have enough traffic to make it viable. even extremely conservative subreddits cannot wean themselves off that website and the ease of visibility it offers. and crowds you'd think could be early adopters just don't want anything new. why post on 9/v/ when 4chan is still up? there is little sense of community like a pre-social media internet. there is only a currency of visibility, managed by 3 tech companies.
