Makes me glad I signed up a while ago, haha.
Seriously though, I would call the newest set of bans and rules abhorrent, but it's honestly just putting into words what we already knew.
- Hate against the majority (whites) has always been allowed, it's not some new rule.
- Most of the subs banned were extremely small, with their big trophy kill (the_donald) already being quarantined and frozen months ago.
- The other right leaning subs were the only places "unpopular" opinions were allowed, not due to site-wide policies but through community censorship. A sizable portion of them also wasn't centered around hate whatsoever.
Realistically, nothing has changed, they've just made the culture of reddit into the law of reddit
(rant warning)
My reddit use was at an all time low to begin with, but this killed the website for me and it has nothing to do with the banned subs (I didn't even know most of them existed). Hell, it even soured my opinion of the internet in general.
I've logged out of my main account there and I don't think I'll be logging back in to it. I have a separate account for some productivity and work related subs, but I can't see myself posting on that one much any more. Outside of r/games for news (which is a sub that has it's own problems) I think I'm done with big congregate sites. Gonna find my self some nice, smaller art and writing forums and try to do something more productive, maybe make some worthwhile connections. Hell, If I find a decent gaming news site or forum, reddit will probably be dead to me.
I'm not going to go to a website where the leadership isn't looking out for me due to the color of my skin or because I have a penis (yes, the majority female thing keeps getting thrown around, but you know the rule is against white men.)
Sorry for the ranty post.
