The pharmacy owner saying they lost medical records was kinda heart wrenching

That pharmacy was one of two that I personally used. I’d moved all my prescriptions there because they treated their customers like real humans, not a number or hassle or addict, like the chains do. It’s incredibly infuriating that they were burned down.

This is the rubble pile where the pharmacy used to stand.

The state DFL is so fucking stupid and of course they’re trying to make this about THEM not the business owners or community members. Disgusting on their part.

I like how academia is actively trying to spread anti-intellectualism.

San Fran/Oakland didn't have any real aggressive reopening, but they started spiking like other places. The timeline matches up with the protests and incubation period -give or take.

I'll repeat what I said earlier in the thread; I want out of clown world.
There's no goddamn reason this should still be going on.
It’s only going on as long as it has because journalists have propped it up. I do notice less reports of riots and protests though, so I think overall interest is waning. It was pretty strong for about the first two weeks, and it has since started to fizzle out (much like what happened with CHAZ).

For some background, the State DFL is pissed that the Republicans are daring to investigate the lack of response by Democrat politicians. That’s why they keep bringing up “but muh peaceful protests whyyyyy focus on the rioters” and that several people arrested are from suburbs or rural areas. It’s a deflection from the fact that the footage shows their supporters, mostly who live in the city, not outside it, were the ones destroying the community. The DFL does not want to own up to the facts that this was radical leftists and joggers and imported hijabis all doing it with a few others sprinkled in.

ETA: Senator Scott Dibble is the one who had comments about setting up a shadow DFL government on his Facebook page.

This just suggests it's okay to have mass gatherings in general. If they're trying to cover for the protests yet still yell about the dangers or Covid-19, they did the opposite here.
I'm 99% sure the spike we are seeing right now is directly related to or significantly contributed to by the "protests," but nobody in any position of authority or in academia will say it. They'll actively try and hide it.

Contributed to. It played a big part, I'm sure, but I've also been looking around at a lot of bars while on walks - they were often at full or double capacity, with very few people observing the rules (when you're drunk, why would you?). The difference, though, is that the bars are mostly infecting healthy people - dumb and bad, but low lethality probably plays a role here. The protests are going to be affecting the demographics a week or two before the protests began we were told are literally being genocided by the coof

Fact check: Minnesota governor, not Trump, called out the National Guard
https://edition.cnn.com/profiles/daniel-dale

Love a good spin. The governor wouldn’t have called the Guard at all if Trump didn’t embarrass him and Soy Boy Mayor. Even when they were called, they were under deployed and reportedly did not have orders to do anything until days after. That’s why we saw the Guard stationed outside the city waiting until orders were finally given. Of course, I saw someone claim today that the cops were “making the city see what will happen without them”, so people have lost their minds on the subject.

How does protesting stop the spread of COVID? Wasn't the point of social distancing is to limit the spread? I don't understand the world anyway.
You see when all work in the city shuts down and people cower in their homes because violent animals are roving the streets randomly brutalizing human beings, less human beings are interacting thus increasing social distancing.

To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself—that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word—doublethink—involved the use of doublethink.

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies—all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.
The only way I can think of the riots helping not spread COVID19 is if the total number of new infections was extremely lower then those projected for a peaceful time (e.g. less bar hopping, less people going to bars/restaurants etc) That said I find the "study" suspect.
