Reminds me of what happened with the subburbs of Detroit when Kwame Kilpatrick was taken down for corruption. The subburbs were pissed because they were sending money to Detroit in different ways such as water bills (that Detroit controlled the pricing of) the blacks in Detroit said "its none of your business, you should have no say in Kilpatrick!" even though they were spending a ton of money to "help improve Detroit" and were being in a way taxed by the city because of how the water authority worked only to have most of that money gone to Kilpatrick's benefit.

That sounds eerily similar. Most recently, the comments section of a local article about city council moving forward with disbanding police as crime skyrockets were overwhelmingly against disbanding. A few city residents made sarcastic comments about the suburbanites being upset and why do they think they get a say in the city’s policies anyway? Suburbanites responded because we subsidize the city. City residents say nuh-uhhhh all the businesses downtown, muh sports teams, those pay for the city. Suburbanites drop facts about these taxes and how all the people working at the downtown businesses live in suburbs. City residents either move the goalposts or stop responding in defeat.

Edit to avoid double posting: there are reports of rioting in St. Paul tonight, going to see if there’s any streams.

Basically what happened only include Detroit City Consul members calling suburban people "White devils" and the like.

Also I couldn't grab a screen but CHOP protesters are playing the "am not touching you" game with the police tape line, they even went over it which provked the police to respond but sadly they all got back to the right side of the line before the police came to force them.

These kinds of tweets are why even trying to engage in proving how you're "not racist" will never work and should be avoided at all costs. They don't understand the basic statistics, even if they're shown them, and honestly believe they're being executed. Hell, I've seen people saying there's a "black genocide" going on inside the US right now. Of course those same people don't mind that 40%~ of all black children are aborted.

That was great. Here's another video from that now defunct site, for nostalgia's sake:

Remember the good old days when videos like this were considered humorous and not problematic?

In KY some streamers are bitching about how some one from "actual media" was hit by a pepper spray bullet,
If they were legit they shouldn't have been with the crowd (just for self preservation at the very least) AND 2) I doubt they directly targeted the guy more of "shoot in the general direction and you will hit some people"

Given her location and that she works for Microsoft, it isn’t surprising that she thinks like this.
Private fucking property. That ends everything said after. They broke the law before having guns pointed at them. It's that simple. They just want people disarmed so they can force them to submit, or die.

The Tamir Rice picture, and the people who bring it up for their personal agenda against “muh police brutality” piss me the fuck off. Tamir was acting like a dumbass with an airsoft gun with THE ORANGE CAP REMOVED. I never understood how people can defend Tamir and say it’s wrong for the cop to kill him. Yet, the people who bring it up don’t put themselves in the cop’s shoes.

It's almost like the boomer woman was on her own property with a legally owned firearm who had to deal with a bunch of raving protesters or something while not having any sort of police/security in the area. Maybe she'd be a hero and we could all have a march for her if she was a retarded kid (I don't care that he was 12, he was a moron) that made a move looking like he was going to pull a gun (that didn't even have the orange tip on it to indicate it wasn't real) on a couple of cops.

Also, his mom was super negligent. If she’s the parent, it’s her job to let the kid know why orange tips are on fake guns. If you don’t see an orange tip, most will assume it’s a real gun.

We have people saying Brooks was an unjustified shooting despite the holy grail of video footage and angles.

People are morons.

Someone I know is trying to argue that the protests aren't at least somewhat responsible for the recent Coronavirus spike. I'm trying to debunk the idea because it's obviously bullshit and here's what I have so far:

COVID positive tests haven't visibly risen where protests have taken place because
a) the average protester is ~20 years old - the most likely group to catch COVID and to be asymptomatic/have minor symptoms. Many who have attended the events and have had contact with the virus have likely not been tested because they never experienced severe symptoms or any at all. These people then likely passed the virus on to someone older/vulnerable who then did test positive. This idea is further bolstered by the fact that first responders at the events, especially police, have seen an uptick in positive tests over the last few weeks.

b) the mass majority of protesters often don't live in the immediate area they're protesting at, so those who did contact the virus and tested positive were not attributed as a positive recorded in that area. This allows "experts" to say the protests did not cause a spike in the area - a half truth, because it instead occurred in the surrounding areas.

c) several of the more liberal cities have stated that they will no longer ask if someone has attended a protest when conducting contact tracing, confounding the issue further. And even if they do ask, how much do you trust someone who has a strong distrust in authority to tell the truth? Especially if they're trying to avoid having the protests blamed for the spike.

d) are you really going to argue that millions of people, over several weeks, standing shoulder to shoulder is really not going to have an effect on virus spread - but a family going out to dinner will? Face masks aren't going to do shit at a protest, especially considering that they would be always falling off from the yelling and marching. Even when going to the grocery store, my mask needs to be re-positioned every other minute. And that's not factoring in the 1/3rd or more of people that don't wear them properly

e) The conservative protests that everyone was labeling as super-spreader, grandma killing events were minuscule in size and far, far less widespread compared to what we've seen in the last month. Considering the assumption that the wearing of masks likely make little difference in protest situations: if you were among those who believe the lockdown protests in April prevented the curve from going flat, you have to consider these protests played a role in the spike.

If anyone has any other points I missed, let me know.

After the Tamir case and the guy pointing BB guns at people in Walmart, cops started to hesitate more before pulling the trigger. That's not a good thing. Every day citizens lives > idiots waving around "toys"

If the cityslickers knew that ruralite life continued normally after maybe two weeks of lockdown, including everyone returning to work and church, I think their heads would explode. My entire county has had 8 positive cases, and testing was free at two local pharmacies.
