I used to be part of the "Smash Community". Just adding my thoughts on these accusations as people unfamiliar with the scene really jump into the thread.
Keitaro is confirmed braindead. He's effectively admitted the accusations are true. How far off the pulse of cancel culture do you have to be to think that's the move? I suppose he expects points for being "honest". It's such a dumb way to proceed. It's definitely the Keitaro way.
Nairo has been rumored to be gay for quite some time. CaptainZack is also one of the most "toxic" and insufferable attention-whores to ever play competitive videogames. He's well known for aggressively going after older men, blackmailing them for money and or to throw matches and then getting off on canceling them when that's done. Nairo would have to have some real bombshell receipts for this not to be believable. We can probably expect to hear from CaptainZack sometime later on canceling someone else when he's done with their wallet/usefulness/clout and or his attention high runs out. Nairo being involved in this is a bummer.
D1 is the real story here. He's a pillar of the community and has been involved in professionally sorting out beef & rumors, including accusations of sexual assault against others. He's been in the scene for almost 2 decades. He's held jobs at Twitch and is the voice in many of Smash's most famous clips. He also got hit with the classic "Below drinking age girl who is of legal age drank too much and cannot recall consenting for sex, therefore rape". He has the highest chance of seeking legal advice before going braindead like Keitaro and fighting this since his accusation doesn't seemingly involve a minor. His popularity also means they'll want to cancel him hardest.
Smash has had issues with sexual misconduct from the very start. In many ways its reminiscent of early anime and video game conventions where promiscuity, wild stories, and illegality were common. Unlike those conventions though, Smash never truly got institutional support. It's institutional support and big dollar amounts that end up sanitizing these communities. Without that Smash is still stuck in the same freeform wild mode of those hobbies of the past.
I've played smash competitively since the documentary came out, and while I've never attended a real-life event because I've got more personally interesting things to do (competed in online events,) and I can somewhat agree. D1's accusations are damning, however they're vague and attention grabbing when compared to keitaro's addmition of guilt.
She addmited she was of age, she went back to a hotel room with him and she wasn't forced or encouraged to drink by D1 directly. Obviously he's an outright retard and cumstain, but with the accusations so far we don't quite have proof he's a rapist or predator in the community (yet.) If I was to place a bet, my odds would undoubtedly be against him though.
With Keitaro, if he was genuinely willing to disclose everything he did after being rumoured about for some time, I'd wonder what things he actually said and did the night he decided to
have sex with an underage girl. This brick is so echochambered by a bunch of sexual deviants with the smell of sweaty balls that he feels like throwing himself on the coals in a 'baptism by fire' is the approach to save his future.
I'd also have some questions for MVD, I know he's a lard ass and all, but how self-concerned or weak does he have to be to know about the accusations of rape and think that a realistic solution is midmanning an apology? It may of forever tarnished his "smash career," however what kinda socially inept autism must one be suffering to put a videogame above his 'relationship?' He's either M2K levels autism, or he genuinely believed that the way you help a rape victim is by encouraging an apology from the rapist. In hindsight, should of guessed, who would play smash 4 over melee if it wasn't for that young pussy that though melee was too hard.
Time will tell, but I'm keen to see who else gets accused

Only one Imma pray for is Dr.PeePee, he's still a cutie to me.
