Ethiopia's capital is under lockdown at the moment and internet has been killed throughout the country to quench the riots. Interestingly these riots are also based on ethnic frictions that has roots far back as this group, the oromo people, has always been looked down upon by the ruling groups, and now it can seem like the western BLM riots have helped reignite ethnic conflicts within Ethiopia. At least we see some of the methods being influenced over, and even taking their local conflicts over to the west.

In any case, the Oromo people is now the most populous of all the ethnic groups within Ethiopia, and it might be that Ethiopia is heading for a rocky future if this keeps on.

I don't think they are military, a few are holding riot shields that say "POLICE", form what I can tell MPs use riot shields that have "MILITARY POLICE" on them.
US Marshals are tasked with protecting Federal courthouses (among other things like federal prisoner transport), and from what I can find their riot gear looks similar to what is being used in the video.

Also again Antifa is showing why police "militarization" is a thing.
