Netflix Orders Queer-Friendly Animated Children’s Series ‘DeadEndia’ - First Big Mouth, then She-Ra and now this

I like it!

It's that fucking calarts bean mouth I swear I'm sick of seeing in every western cartoon these days. You know at least that Anime studio was actually burned by an arsonist. Why couldn't those death threats made at calarts have been actually carried out? Either nut up or shut up
Because anime = serious fuckin' business. No joke.

Why even bother with the pretense that this is a "kid's" show? Why not just make it for an adult audience?
Probably because you can't get asspats for including things like gay couples in programming aimed at an older audience. People who work on things like this think putting angsty shit or "queer" content in something aimed at kids is edgy and transgressive, because children's entertainment is typically free of anything too heavy or complicated for a younger audience. It's not really transgressive anymore, though, because everyone and their mom now wants to try their hand at challenging the norms of acceptable children's programming.

I'm sick of these cartoonists who think that writing lesbians or PTSD or whatever into their cartoon (ostensibly) aimed at tweens makes them some sort of pioneer for subversive animation. At this point, making a cartoon free of unnecessary angst and wokeshit that kids can actually appreciate and relate to would be legitimately transgressive. Kids deserve to have their interests and sensibilities respected.

Everything on Cartoon Hangover looks like it was mass assembled in a factory. Everyone in this short sounds like they have brain damage.

I disagree. Bravest Warriors was the best-looking one before they cheapened on the animation in the last seasons and Dr. Lollipop had a lot of potential. Shame it didn't get picked up instead of whatever this is.

Absolutely, I feel bad for kids these days.

Back in my day in the 90s kids stuff was actually made for kids.

If memory serves, 90s cartoons were defined by how crazy they can get with their animation and their plotlines. All the while trying to appeal to kids by how "cool" yet kooky they were.

I ask you: What the fuck is cool about being queer in the sexuality sense? Being queer doesn't mean shit if you're not being entertaining with it. Plus it's common knowledge kids find loving their friends icky sooooo is this another expensive therapy session in the making?

Does Netflix know that most people don't want their kids watching a qweer show that feels like it was made for hipster adults? Literally noone except for ultra-liberal parents are gonna show their kids this.

Not if it sucks enough. They'll just pretend it got unfair treatment and defend it saying "It's starting a conversation!" like everything else they make that fails.

If this show doesn't run a few years, the spergs will just harass everyone on social media until they order more episodes. It happened to that bird cartoon and Dil8.

I happened to like Harvey Beaks. Current CalArts needs to pay up to Rodney Greenblatt for ripping off his aesthetics without the soul of his work.

Being trans is a fetish or an act and children shouldn't be exposed to the concept, much less be taught that it is normal or that they are trans.
Statistically speaking, roughly 0.58% of Americans identified as trans back in 2016. Now, this might not seem much until you consider that the country's population was an little bit over 321 million. Which, in turn, gives us an ballpark figure of 1.6 million deviants across the nation.

But you can probably go a few months without seeing one, depending on where you live.

Netflix has been hemorrhaging money for years at this point, financing something like this seems like an easy investment to make since it looks very low budget and it appeals to a very vocal demographic.

I'm having a hard time coming up with any new shows they've come out with that didn't try to push some sort of agenda, or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Never forget that there are people with so much money that they'll sink hundreds of millions into a presidential election every 4 years.

Why wouldn't there be people who don't mind mass media making a loss as long as redirects culture? Particularly since politics is downstream from culture?
