I get the many reasons why people stick around a place that no longer makes them happy, but it's always interesting to see the people who seem to have such clarity on just what's happened to Something Awful (and other places where this sort of thing has happened). For these two posters, SA collapsing into a heap would be the best thing because they wouldn't have that pull towards a place where they are undoubtedly hated for being able to see outside the hugbox, even if just temporarily.

These are both incisive comments that apply far beyond their failing forum, and will never be listened to by the exact people who need to hear it most. Sadly for these two posters, it seems they're not yet at the point of realising that their forum is unsalvageable. But they'll likely get there soon.

Chalk me up as another old school '99-'00 era goon who just knew Derek Smart as some ur-lolcow that Lowtax had a beef with. I was surprised to hear he'd come to SA a few years ago, and now find it turns out he's reasonable. Welcome to the Farms, Derek!

Translation: there's nobody to pay the remaining writers left.

I was actually surprised to see Zach Parsons still was writing at all. He and Fistgrrl are the most responsible for the SJWization of SA, with her promoting Ozma(fat) and him being the one to ban the word "nigger" and boot off all the racists. But interestingly enough for a time they were de facto in control of the site. Lowtax had fucked off in a fit of picque. This, along with the next reign of Fragmaster, represented the last time there was even an attempt to run the site as a professional business, wtih marketing and merch. For the next decade, it just coasted on inertia.

What makes this situation so tragic/hilarious is that Rich isn't above editing a site form to incrimate Logan, and Logan isn't above actually trying to divert the page income if she was scorned.

They really were a perfect match of two trashy people, and while goons can pontificate all day about how Rich is a horrible abuser of women, Logan isn't exactly what you'd call a sympathetic case. Goons automatically smearing Rich and believing Logan couldn't have possibly done anything wrong is just goon autogynephilia manifesting in real time. Goons fetishize women and give them a free pass, which is why half of them want to become women.

During this same period of time, I was big into League of Legends and they had just released a character called Tahm Kench - a big catfish monster who swallowed things whole. I couldn't play the game at all during the first week he was out (new characters get played constantly when they're novel), but eventually said fuck it and bought him myself to play. I discovered very quickly his ability to pull enemies off fragile teammates ('peeling') jived very well with my playstyle and I adopted him as main role. It also helped enormously with not being made uncomfortable by that shit.
