You know you went too far when r/politics is calling out your insanity.

As much as I think Henson and Welles deserve it, I'd rather they just avoid the entertainment industry.
Sports is entertainment and he's already mention Jackie Robinson. As long as these people truly innovated and/or are long passed, I'm fine.
@tehpope pretty much explained my logic with Henson. Robinson had an important role in desegregation, but his role was in entertainment. I'd also recommend Seymour Burr due to his very interesting story as a former slave turned yeoman farmer who fought in our Revolution.

Here's the first 30 people Trump wants to put in his National Garden.
  • George Washington
  • Thomas Jefferson
  • Betsy Ross
  • Alexander Hamilton
  • Ben Franklin
  • John Adams
  • James Maidson
  • Dolly Madison
  • Frederick Douglass
  • Abraham Lincoln
  • Harriet Tubman
  • Harriet Beecher Stowe
  • Joshua Chamberlain
  • Clara Barton
  • Daniel Boon
  • Davey Crocket
  • Henry Clay
  • Susan B Anthony
  • Booker T Washingon
  • The Wright Brothers
  • Amelia Earhart
  • Jackie Robinson
  • George S Patton
  • Douglas MacArthur
  • Audie Murphy
  • Billy Graham
  • MLK
  • Ronald Regan
  • Christa McAuliffe
  • Antonin Scalia
He's open for suggestions and said the public would be able to make some. I mentioned in the riot thread I'd like to see folks like D. W. Griffith and Orson Welles for their contribution to film. No one gives a fuck about Griffith but Welles' estate might bitch about it. Thinking about it more, Bob Dylan should be in there, for his contribution to Music.

Others in the thread mentioned Andrew Jackson, Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Henry Ford being missing too.
Give it to me straight Kiwis, how do you think the media will spin this monument? They're all racists, self hating, birthed an evil country?

Doesn't reflect modern diversity, where are the indians, where are the asians, where are the latino/a/x, why isn't the homeless crackwhore from the stonewall riots there, Howard Zinn style hypercritical disdain, etc.

Oh, I expect them to chimp that Reagan and Graham are in the list right now. Literal chimp, as in they need to get the stuffing beaten out of them by security since they tried to shove the statue over to shit on it level tard out.

For the men: White Racist Slave Owners (even though many in the latter half of the list existed after slavery).
The Women: Internalized Misogyny
Black People: uncle toms or internalized racism.

Based. Fuck Dubois.

Also Ford is problematic as all hell because of his outspoken antisemitism. This initial list is basically "all the people you can't criticize", and that means Ford is out.
This was also why I recommended Jim Henson, since the most you can say about him was he was a workaholic who was bad at facing confrontation (he literally would just walk away after grunting since he never liked arguing) and expressing himself (he was noteworthy for just hmm'ing if he liked what you created, and he grunted if he thought it sucked).

Fred Rogers would've also been a good candidate, but I think Jim deserves a bit more credit.

WHERE IS TEDDY ROOSEVELT

Florida is also ... Florida. So I'm not surprised either way.
It's also worth mentioning that the majority of new cases in Florida happened in Hillsborough county (where there was a spike in cases a few weeks after a riot peaceful protest, although I'm sure it's unrelated), and the Miami-Dade/Broward/Palm Beach counties.

Please note that those three counties are did not reopen with the rest of the state.
