Tonight the city's fireworks were canceled. Local communities decided "fuck that" and bought their own fireworks. I watched for 2.5 hours of straight fireworks, truck after truck dropping off huge cases of the stuff, barbecuing and grilling, children playing on the playground and young adults hanging out for the first time in months. You could see firework displays from other nearby parks and open lots. All over the city from every backyard fireworks were going off, and they had been going on for over 2 hours when I got there. Groups of people young and old hanging out and having a wonderful time. Hell fireworks are STILL going off. The whole community showed up, people were acting like you would expect at any july 4th celebration, streets blocks away were lines with cars from all over.

There was only one lady, some stuck up wrinkled Karen, screaming in everyone's face about how fireworks are illegal and how we should be ashamed for not wearing masks and staying at home. Every single group told her to go fuck herself. One group told her to move to China if she hated freedom so much. She told me on her way back that she was so grateful for the community's compassion, she was going to go kill herself tonight. I told her to livestream it for our entertainment.

It doesnt matter how many restrictions and riots and cancellings they try, how much fear mongering the media peddles; you cant keep down the great people of this country. God bless america, and goodnight everyone.

I've never heard so many fireworks going off in my whole life, I feel like a message is being sent.

Do you have any source? Or can you at least say where you heard this?

EDIT :
Stunned friends identified Taylor, a non-binary from Seattle, as a compassionate veterinary assistant devoted to fighting injustice, said friends. Diaz Love, 32, of Bellingham was injured in the crash.

:story: Shit. That's rough. Not even a person, just a thing. Just how she wanted it.

lots of fireworks around here (must've been fired off of rooftops or something like that since folks were blasting them off for hours), but I didn't hear more than one or two sirens for the whole of the night

he violently jacked a car. I don't think he deserved to be killed, but I'm glad he's dead
At first I thought he might have just hotwired the car, and I felt a little bad, but when I learned he carjacked the puppy playmobile to be his hearse my sympathies melted away. Strange how these CHAZians care so much when cops kill black people over property crime and chanted tonight about how black looters matter and black murderers matter, but that sixteen year old didn't count for them.

Just think of how high encounters with CHAZ security and death rate would be!

What sort of cope is this? The majority of the streams this woke faggot is hosting are from the same place. Gotta make it appear as if there's some sort of critical mass occuring when in fact it's all the usual suspects. Pretty pathetic.

"Non binary" eh? Well, it wouldn't have procreated anyway, so natural selection runs its inevitable course.
Yea this fag does that a lot, whenever shit actually goes down that makes the rioters look bad he usually hides it as well.

See, this is why I love Ohio. There's just the state level of no fucks given that I appreciate. I couldn't see much, given the trees out here, but it was hours of fireworks all around. Amuses me that fireworks are legal to buy in Ohio, but not legal to set off. Not that I've ever been involved in setting off fireworks. Especially over the high-speed ferry path in Put-in-Bay.

They fixed the elk statue. Good as new.

It seems kind of ironic celebrating Independence Day with all the lockdowns, curfews, "social distancing", and riots going on...

No it doesn't. There are no riots going on. Just the usual LARP'ers in Seattle and Portland. As is evidenced by those here and on news reports, people are disregarding the lack of fireworks displays and partaking in their own. Anectdotally, I can attest to that. I have never heard the amount of personal fireworks in the years I've lived here that I heard tonight. And they're still going (about three hours strong). I'd say more Independent than not.

It's a fuck you to all that
That's a much better way of thinking of it.

I have never heard the amount of personal fireworks in the years I've lived here that I heard tonight.
Now that you mention it, there's a lot more around here too.

It's good people are sick and tired of the shitshow that is 2020.

I immediately assumed that "who died for your dinner" was a vegan thing. Was surprised it was about covid and food workers.
NGL, I thought this was an attempt to spin minority food delivery people as oppressed because their ancestors died from slavery or something equally ridiculous. TFW the timeline is such that reality and crazy ideas are interchangeable. *sigh*

I guess it has something to do with all the riots.
So that way the media can claim there is no evidence of the riots causing the Covid spike
Certain elected officials have blamed businesses opening up too soon. In my area though, most people getting COVID-19 from a reopened business stem from the failure of people to wear a mask, social distance, or practice proper hygiene/handwashing. Blaming minority protestors that aren't taking precautions is taboo even if cases from reopening wouldn't have spiked because most closed businesses around here didn't reopen until after the protests started. 🤷‍♂️

Lots of stuff going on on Broadcastify, but nothing that seems to be related to protests! Very gud.
FWIW, some cities have their protest chatter on private frequencies. When the protests began in Detroit and they got violent prior to imposing a curfew, there was an announcement that riot control was going to be on a different frequency (not covered by broadcastify). So, the lack of protest chatter doesn't necessarily equate to no violence, unfortunately.

They cancelled the usual fireworks due to wuflu and people are celebrating anyway.
While COVID-19 led the official fireworks held by most cities or private entities (mostly golf courses) being cancelled here, the volume of fireworks lit off by ordinary people seemed unchanged. The only difference I noticed tonight was fewer bottle rockets and fewer of the fireworks that give off multiple explosions in a short period of time. Otherwise, it was just another 4th of July.

In my area, most people go to public fireworks displays so I never hear more than a few fireworks on July 4. Tonight was the first time ever that a neighbor hosted a mini fireworks display on our street and invited everyone to come watch. They've never done any fireworks before. No one has because the county is pretty strict about it -- even the tame stuff. And from the sounds of it, plenty of other neighborhoods near by are doing the same thing.

My poor dog was terrified because she's not used to the sound. She spent the evening snuggling up to my husband. But, it was nice to see everyone having a good time since the streets are pretty empty these days with covid.
